Anyone out there who is a STEM undergrad or know any undergrads, I just learned about a really cool workshop that you might be interested in. In 3 days, you'll essentially learn how to simulate a star exploding on your laptop. How cool is that?! It is being led by one of my former supervisors, Dr. Robert Fisher, who is an incredible mentor. You don't need many physics or math prereqs, nor any prior research experience. Check it out or share with someone who could potentially benefit from this opportunity.
Hope you all are having a nice end to your semester.
I just posted a video on how Michael Faraday and James Clerk Maxwell discovered the laws of Electricity & Magnetism. You'll learn the history and intuition behind Maxwell's famous equations. If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/-hua8RWopfw
Should I keep the white background for my videos or change it to darker? I've gotten a few comments for people asking me to change it, but wanted to get an idea what most people think
Hope you enjoyed the latest compactness video: https://youtu.be/triNEat764M Which of the following theorems says that products of compact spaces are compact? (answer in pinned comment)
I'm finishing up the final edit's on this week's video, which is about the mathematical notion of compactness. You'll find out the historical origins of this concept, the various definitions that were originally proposed, and along the way gain an intuitive, clear understanding of the modern definition of it. The final version will be up here on YouTube this week. If you want to provide feedback and help shape final edits, you can find the early access, ad free rough draft on Patreon: www.patreon.com/AbideByReason. Hope you are having a great week.
Hope you've enjoyed the latest video on how von Neumann Unified Quantum Mechanics: https://youtu.be/gOBzSGwfmyU What would you like to see next? Feel free to comment other ideas below too.
Which famous mathematician/physicist was John von Neumann mentored by when he axiomatized Quantum Mechanics? I'll explain this in depth in the next video (which should be out in ~1 week). And if you still haven't seen the latest video on the Born Rule, check it out here: https://youtu.be/mmPqMwt18Hc
Hope you've enjoyed the latest video on how Einstein's Ghost Field idea inspired Born's discovery of the Born Rule: https://youtu.be/mmPqMwt18Hc Also, I'm considering starting a Substack. I will likely experiment a bit, but the plan is to write about more technical topics + interesting historical aspects that don't make it into a video. Would this be of interest to you? Feel free to comment suggestions/feedback below.
Currently finishing up the last edits for this week's video on the Born Rule. You'll learn where it came from and how Born was originally inspired by an idea Einstein had (though never published). There's been a bit of a delay, but the final version will be here on YouTube later this week hopefully. If you want to provide feedback and help shape final edits, you can find the current draft on Patreon: www.patreon.com/AbideByReason.
