Borrowed a friend’s Record Pi to try to de-warp two records worth around $400. Think it’ll work? 🤷♂️ I’m filming the process for a future YT vid all about it… 🤞🙏 @recordpi
Mostly country records at this morning’s estate sale. I took some video after my initial pass because there were 4 other vinyl guys going through the records… I did get a couple of good cassettes and did very well on CDs - a lot of metal. Video coming soon!
U2 drops a new EP out of nowhere… I’ve been listening to it this morning and of course am enjoying it. Gonna need to listen a lot to see where it sizes up in the U2 Canon and which songs are real standouts…
Record shop here in Omaha doesn’t know when they’ll get it on vinyl…
Epic score of vintage band tees! A local thrift-style vintage shop posted to Facebook about two new band tees that got in: the Rolling Stones & Grateful Dead. I messaged them about them and they told me they also had a ‘90s Ozzy tee and they’d do a bundle deal for all three for $200. When I went in I saw that the Ozzy tee was pretty rough so I countered at $170 and they accepted.
While searching their racks I came across one more band tee - a band I have never heard of: Placebo
The tee is from 2006 and seems to be fairly valuable with some listings in the $75 -$100 range for other versions. Have you ever heard of Placebo? I listened to their 2006 album Meds on Apple Music and thought it was cool but ultimately not something I would end up listening to.
These will be up for sale on eBay, Depop and in the shop. Still need to figure out prices for each…
A collection of 1,000 soul / funk / R&B records hit Kanesville Kollectibles this week, and I picked up a nice little haul of records. Then I went to a thrift store and hundreds of 45s from that same collection were there for 65¢ each! I got one that was worth A LOT and many more valued between $5 and $15 each.
Two of my prized receivers are in for repairs… My KLH 27 had been serviced earlier this year but started acting up shortly after. Buzzing sounds. No good.
My friend Byron (who services vintage stereo equipment as a hobby) replaced several capacitors but not a full re-cap.
The larger receiver is my Marantz 4230 Quad that I got on FB Marketplace for $100! I left it on all day by accident and it developed a wicked hum. Byron replaced a few capacitors and has it sounding clear again.
I should be able to pick them up soon as Byron puts the finishing touches on them…
