Ginny Weasley is being recast for Season 2 after Gracie Cochrane stepped away from the role, Paul Bettany responded to those Voldemort rumors, and Brendan Gleeson shared advice for whoever eventually plays the next Mad-Eye Moody.
Plus, we’re also talking about MinaLima’s new Defenders of Hogwarts board game, Universal’s collectible glass wands, new Funko Pops, new Youtooz, and more Wizarding World updates.
The new Harry Potter TV series uniforms are on display 👀
I just uploaded a new video breaking down the costumes shown at Licensing Expo, including the updated Hogwarts uniforms, Quidditch gear, new house color details, tartan, badges, robes, and more.
This is one of our clearest looks yet at the visual direction of the HBO series and there are definitely some interesting changes from the original films.
What do you think so far — are you liking the new costume direction?
Gracie Cochrane will not be returning as Ginny Weasley in Season 2 of the HBO Harry Potter series. 🧡
Her family released a statement saying she made the “challenging decision to step away” due to unforeseen circumstances, adding that her time in the Wizarding World was “truly wonderful.”
HBO responded with full support, saying they are grateful for her work on Season 1 and wish her and her family the best.
A new actress will be cast to take on the role of Ginny for Season 2, which is set to begin production this fall. Ginny is a particularly significant character given her relationship with Harry later in the series.
Season 1 — Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone — premieres Christmas Day 2026 on HBO Max. 📺
Who do you think should be cast as the new Ginny Weasley? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to follow for more Harry Potter news. 👇
Jason Isaacs had a real-life Malfoy crossover moment with Lox Pratt, Paapa Essiedu and Nick Frost had a fun BAFTA moment as the new Snape and Hagrid, and the original Weasley actors reunited at the Studio Tour in London.
I broke it all down in this week’s Harry Potter news roundup — plus new merch, events, Audible updates, and more.
Warner Bros. Discovery is holding a major industry presentation this Wednesday, May 13th at Madison Square Garden. It’s called an “upfront” basically WBD pitching their upcoming content slate to advertisers.
The Harry Potter series falls under the HBO/Max umbrella, which is being featured at the event. So could we get new footage, a trailer drop, or casting news?
Here’s the realistic take: upfronts are industry-facing events, so any big reveals are aimed at advertisers first. But trade outlets like Deadline typically report play-by-play on anything shown, so even if we don’t see it directly, we’ll hear about it fast.
Some are expecting character posters or a full theme release after the rewatch podcast wraps. Others think further casting announcements (James, Lily, Peeves, the Fat Lady) could still be coming this spring.
🔮 Stay tuned! Wednesday could be a big day. I’ll keep you posted.
In my latest video, I’m breaking down all the biggest updates, including HBO already renewing the new Harry Potter series for Season 2 before Season 1 even premieres, new Waterloo Station filming leaks, Katherine Parkinson talking about playing Mrs. Weasley, and Lox Pratt opening up about his take on Draco Malfoy.
We’re also getting into John Hopkins reportedly joining the cast, Kevin McKidd responding to Arthur Weasley rumors, Paapa Essiedu joking about the reported missing props situation, HBO allegedly microchipping props on set, Harry Potter: The Exhibition coming to Denver, and the newly announced official Harry Potter film podcast.
There’s a lot to catch up on, so watch the full video here 👇

The HBO series is already boosting book interest, Cinnabon is launching Butterbeer treats, Timex dropped new Wizarding World watches, Noble Collection is entering the HBO series era, and a Harry Potter drone show is coming to Los Angeles.
I put together a full weekly roundup so you don’t miss anything.
While we wait for the HBO series this Christmas, HBO Max is giving us something to hold us over. 🎙️⚡
Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast Season 1 debuts Tuesday, May 19 on HBO Max.
Based on the title, the podcast appears to be a retrospective look back at the eight original films released from 2001 to 2011 — no hosts, episode count, or format details have been officially announced yet.
🎧 Expected to be available on all major podcasting platforms — not just HBO Max
📺 The HBO Harry Potter series itself premieres Christmas Day 2026

The Noble Collection just signed a major multi-year global deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. 🪄✨
The company has been making Harry Potter collectibles for over 20 years and has now secured two big things in one deal:
🎬 They’ve secured brand new rights for the HBO Original Harry Potter series — making them the go-to destination for collector focused HBO series merchandise worldwide
🪄 First up from the new series line will be wand replicas accurately reflecting the new character designs and styling from the HBO series
🧸 Additional products will include prop replicas, collector plush, chess sets, jewelry, stationery and more
⚡ And importantly for fans of the original films — the deal confirms that Noble Collection WILL continue producing FILM-based products. Wand replicas, sculptures, jewelry, home décor and more based on the original films are not going anywhere.
Warner Bros. called The Noble Collection “an ideal partner” with “unmatched craftsmanship” to bring both the legacy of the films and the excitement of the new series to fans globally.
