My name is Ron Pecina, owner of Classic Electric of Point Pleasant, New Jersey. This page is about electrical work and the work that my business offers. I have been an electrician since 1990 when I enlisted in the United States Navy and became a Construction Electrician in the Seabees. This is how I got my start in this industry and I am proud to be a professional in this business. After nineteen years and working for several electrical contractors in the Westfield, Cranford, and Clark area, I decided to earn my state electrical license and business permit. In 2009, Classic Electric, LLC. became a reality and I've been doing the kind of work you'll be seeing in these videos ever since.

I'm an active member in the New Jersey Independent Electrical Contractors association (NJ-IEC) and an electrical instructor for our approved apprenticeship program in Somerset, New Jersey.

Comments in almost all of my videos ask “why no anti-oxidant?”

In July, I will be going to an instructors conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is for our association, the Independent Electrical Contractors (NJ-IEC). There’ll be training on how to become a better instructor, code updates on the 2026 NEC, a seminar with Ryan Jackson, and a field trip to the Milwaukee Tools factory. I’m really looking forward to meeting other IEC members from around the country and becoming a better apprenticeship instructor. Did I mention a trip to Milwaukee Tool Inc.?

Tomorrow I am changing out a damaged 200A meter pan in Middletown, NJ. This an underground service in a very nice neighborhood and JCPL (the power company) is coming out for a scheduled shut down. The work won't take long but it has to be approved before the power is restored. The inspector has been more than accommodating and will show up in a timely manner which makes me extremely grateful. I do plan to make a video.

I'll be starting the next 200A service upgrade tomorrow in Maplewood, NJ. There's a 90% chance of rain tomorrow but thats supposed to happen in the early morning hours while I'm asleep. We'll start by doing the grounding to the copper water main (#2 AWG aluminum) and two ground rods (#6 AWG copper). I'll also get as much material in place ahead of the power disconnection on Saturday. My biggest challenge is what to do with the service-drop from the utility while the new 2" galvanized mast is installed.

This is the latest from Generac. It’s a 200 amp single phase service-rated automatic transfer switch with built in surge protection. I’ll be installing this as part of a 200 amp service upgrade I’m doing in Spring Lake this weekend. Video to follow. 👍

In January, I’ll be attending the NEC 2026 Code Update seminar with Mike Holt in Quincy, Massachusetts. I am very excited for this event. If you’ll be attending let me know in the comments.

Btw, I’m doing an awful lot of work here in Manahawkin. I should have a video coming soon.
