I love talking and I love videogames, so you'll mostly find videos here where I talk about videogames.
Formerly a german channel so that's why I tend to sound like a robot and why my older videos sound so damn weird.
A lot of my thumbnails are color - coded. Here's what the different colors mean (doesn't necessarily apply to WicketJam's videos)
Blue frame: Let's Play -style videos, with voice-over recorded during gameplay
Pink frame: My thoughts about a particular game, gameplay and voice-over recorded independently from one another
Red frame: Live Streams
White frame: Commentary on different topics
Yellow frame: Movie reviews
Green frame: Games on the XBox Gamepass that justify the cost of admition
Press Start: Game reviews

So, first, why does an 18+ game need to tell me that it's not for "all audiences", I feel that's implied by it being 18+.
Next, what is it with these useless content warnings. This is a game that goes out of it's way to disturb you with blood and gore and actually scare you, instill fear in you, shock you with jumpscares.... literally induce stress, have your heart rate spike... That's the whole point of this game.
But, "oh no! There's depictions of gender discrimination in here? Good thing I was told beforehand so now I feel safe"
Content Warnings used to be for extreme stuff like depictions of murder and torture, and even the more silly stuff like warnings for depictions of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs at least made some sense in the case of games targeted at teens and kids so parents could make informed consumer decisions. But this stuff is just silly.
Alright, some of these"warnings" are useful. It halfheartedly mentions the graphic violence, though I guess the extent of that could have been further clarified. Child abuse and bullying are very sensible topics, so it makes sense to mention it. But drug induced hallucinations, not the use of drugs, just the hallucinations, and gender discrimination is nothing anyone needs to be warned about in a work of fiction.
And I really don't need a Game Publisher to tell me to take a break if the game makes me feel uncomfortable.
Do companies think we're all little babies who can't think for themselves and need to be cuddled all the time?
But on the other hand, it's totally fine for teachers to show a video of an actual murder to kids during class.
What is wrong with us?

Alright, so now the japanese kids can’t enjoy their Happy Meal because the scalpers bought all the toys. This was supposed to be a fun Pokemon Trading Card collaboration, but I guess it’s more important for 40 year old dudes to buy and resell them on ebay

The first copy of Donkey Kong Bananza on Mount Fuji (and if not, certainly one of the first few)
A friend asked me to take it with me ^.^
Sadly, it (and I as well) only made it up about 2/3 of the way. The trail to the summit was closed due to the bad weather und the hike wasn’t very fun, so we turned around after the 8th station.
Maybe the next brave soul gets it up to the top!

Can we please stop with all the auto-translations, please?
For some time now my Youtube recommended section gets more and more flooded with these weird Auto-Dub videos.
No thank you, I don't want a creepy ass Robot talking over videos made for a completely different market.
They call it accessibility, and while there is some truth to that, it just takes away from the original content. The creators voice, their pronunciation, just their whole way of speaking, is a huge part of the video. This isn't the News, these are their own pieces of art and entertainment, and we once again outsource it to a robot.
I already heated the auto translated video titles, because
a) they often sound off
and
2) they try to fool me into thinking the video was in a different language.
I googled for a solution and among the results were german reddit threads... well... reddit threads auto translated into german.
It's insane. I don't want some old suits to decide how I should experience the internet, all in the name of accessibility.
All these auto-translation "features" should be opt-in or at least optional, and not forced on us. It shouldn't be (just) an option on the creators side. I, as the viewer, should decide if the videos are presented to me in their original form, with the option to swap to the robot voice or whatever, for those who actually want this creepy feature.

It gets better. For their most recent entry in The Crew, they offer a PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version, as is the case with many other PS4/5 games. But this here is one of the few games, where you need to pay for the upgrade, and they sneakily hide this on the back of the box, so that it doesn‘t even appear on screenshots in online stores. So they abused the goodwill other games have generated to screw over their customers once more. They really give it their all to come out victorious against SquareEnix in a battle of who‘s the more despicable video game company in 2024

Ubisoft goes full-on anti consumer with stuff like this. Not only do they shutdown even the single player portion of a game in April this year, they don‘t even allow first time players, who own a physical copy, to start the game. This error pops up for many players on the start screen and Ubisoft support is just handwaving it away, since the game isn‘t around for that much longer anyways
Gamers should get comfortable with not owning their games?
Ubisoft should get comfortable with not having any customers if thy keep this up

Visited the Pokémon Café in Tokyo, Nihonbashi.
So, I didn't expect too much, just some cute ambience to enjoy with my overpriced food. Well, I got half of it right.
The inside looked more like your typical McDonald's restaurant, just with some Pokemon posters plastered over the walls and screens replaying game trailers on a loop. Though, there were some cute little displays of plushies and merchandise here and there and the Pikachu table was decorated quite nicely with some oversized Pokemon figurines of some of the cuter Pokemon.
The menu featured 3 main dishes, 3 desserts, a good number of soft drinks and milkshakes as well as a handful of hot drinks, that were advertised with the option to chose either a Pikachu or Evoli cup to even keep after finishing your beverage of choice. Well, those cups wers old out, still advertised on the website, but not available in the café, the only place where you can buy these. Actually, most of the exclusive merchandise only available in the café during your alloted time slot...... wasn't available. Everything worthwhile had already been sold out, the cute cups, the 3 different chef and waiter Pikachu plushies, one of which was even shown off in a giant Pikachu live performance. The funny thing is, an employee walked up to the waiting queue and told us that the café exclusive drinking glasses had been sold out, but didn't mention all the other stuff not available anymore.
So the waiters had to apologize everytime a customer asked for some of the items. And on that note, the staff was very polite and friendly. The mismanaged inventory wasn't their fault, but they had to deal with the unsatisfied customers, half of which where nerds who only went their to get the excluse stuff and were rightfully disappointed.
The restaurant is pretty much reservation only. Yeah, you can technically just come by and ask if there's a table available, but in actuality it's always fully booked. That in turn means, though, that managment always knows how many customers are to be expected not only at any given day, but for the whole week.... and most of the time at least a month in advance.... So how is it even possible that they don't have enough merchandise? They even have a limitation on how many items of any kind you're allowed to buy, something a lot of japanese merch stores do, so there's even less reason to run out before the end of service.
So, this was the first moment of disenchantment, and not even the sheet of paper and the random plastic coasters you get with your meal could give some consolation.
The main dishes all cost about 2,000 yenand were expectedly mediocre, not bad, just a bit bland. They looked alright, with the Snorlax plate being the prettiest, just because of the creatively used Snorlax plate filled with rice and the side dishes decorated around it. For the Pikachu and Evoli dish, you got a plastic plate in the form of the respective Pokemon's head with a bun featuring the Pokemon's face once more and a few side dishes (tuna salad, clam chowder and a small quiche with the evoli dish). It might look nice on pictures but when it's in front of you, it comes off as pretty cheap.
When we were there, a lot of customers didn't finish their food or drinks. Again, the food wasn't bad, just not very satisfying. For dessert we each ordered a cup of coffee and my friend even tried out one of the desserts that came with a pancake that seemed to be pretty delicious in fact, so maybe just get the sweets if you're planning on visiting the café. But maybe skip the coffee, because it was nearly cold when we got it. Service was pretty slow, especially drinks were often served a lot later than the food, but not because they were prepared later, but were standing around on the service counter for a long time. So our 880 yen coffee, which is more than double the price of a large coffee at Starbucks, was weak and cold and not very enjoyable.
After about half of our alloted time of 90 minutes was up, a giant dancing Pikachu appeared an gave a 5 minuts performance. It was nothing special but cute enough and the kids seemed to enjoy it... and so did quite a lot of the (younger) adults (that visited without children)
So yeah, our visit to the Pokémon Café was quite the disappointment.
We paid about 9,000 yean for two main dishes with a soda, two coffees and a dessert, which is a bit short of double the amount we paid elsewhere.... Which I guess is to be expected from an IP related restaurant. Than again, we paid a bit less in the Toad Café in the Super Nintendo World and there the food was actually pretty good and the ambience was really nice. It still had a bit of a cafeteria vibe, that just can't be avoided when you have to serve hundreds of customers, but they gave a damn with the furnishings and the overall look and also the presentation of the food.
If you want a good Nintendo fanboy(/girl) restaurant experience, visit the Toad Café rather than the Pokémon Café.

New Year's resolution: I want to do more livestreams. Maybe do some First Impressions streams instead of my regular style of first impressions videos for some of the upcoming games, but I'm not sure about that right now.
