The timetables for the Agartala - Narangi - Agartala Express and the New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati - New Jalpaiguri Intercity Express are as follows :

These trains will commence operations on the following dates :

• 15649 Agartala - Narangi Express (Ex-Agartala from 24/03/2026)

• 15650 Narangi - Agartala Express (Ex-Narangi from 25/03/2026)

• 15675 New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati Intercity Express (Ex-New Jalpaiguri from 24/03/2026)

• 15676 Guwahati - New Jalpaiguri Intercity Express (Ex-Guwahati from 25/03/2026)

Glimpses from the Inauguration run of 05660 Narangi - Agartala Express, making an important step in strengthening rail connectivity between the capitals of Assam and Tripura !

While long distance trains already connected Guwahati and Agartala via this route, this service becomes the first dedicated train originating from Guwahati city for Agartala, improving direct connectivity for passengers travelling between Assam, Tripura and the Barak Valley region. The train was officially inaugurated on 13 March 2026 from Narangi, in the presence of railway officials and dignitaries.

Adding another interesting aspect to the run was the choice of traction. In a time when electrics are increasingly leading important services, this inaugural was hauled by New Guwahati’s WDP-4D twins #40548 + #40195. Originally planned with a single locomotive, the formation was upgraded to a twin diesel set, a relatively uncommon sight as passenger class locomotives from New Guwahati are rarely seen working in multiple unit formation. The duo effortlessly handled the 13 coach inaugural special, making the run more visually memorable for rail enthusiasts and diesel lovers !
