Choosing www vs non is critical

By not being very distinct on whether your URLS are going to have www or not. Then, not committing to it across all pages on your site, and even all the URL links pointing to your site.

You're essentially adding a function of additional volatility in your rankings. For your own misery

It's not just www, it's all your URLs. I'm using www vs non as an example.

(you could consider capitalized letters too)

Also, something to consider is that when viewing your Google Search Console (GSC)

It's going to "normalize" your data when you view it from the performance tab.

It's going to show some of the volatility your overall site is experiencing, but it's not showing the granular detail of each page.

The more pages you have, the more your rankings volatility will "normalize" (aka it's going to look smoother than it actually is)

Consider going to view a few pages from your site on GSC, mainly money pages, and look at what's occurring with your positioning over time.

Here's an example of a site that was at first presented to Google with non www then later presented with www. Attached, we can see the volatility impact this decision has.

Now, this was a brand new domain so there's little to no impact on the traffic as there is none, this is more for visualization of what occurs.

Google doesn't know which one to pick because you confused it. I know right, isn't Google super smart and should be able to figure it out on it's own?

Well, there are multiple other things to consider. Eventually, Google will figure it out and the duration of that timeframe may not be to your liking, and it may not choose the "one" you want.

It's going to have "fun" playing ping pong with your position in the serps, and if you're in the index or not.

"One backlink from a local chamber of commerce is worth more than 10 backlinks from random directories."

What I think,

Something to consider when seeking out backlinks and their implications on your site.

"High Value" links like one from a local chamber of commerce are worth "more" in terms of "power" "relevance" (whatever adjective you want to use)

But what you're getting isn't just the link from that site, you're getting it's relevance relative to what Google has indexed and is considering relevant, in terms of more > less to other local sites, from it's "active" domain history and information on the site.

When you give Google "new" information to it and provide it in a format that reduces it's expenses to gather that information, you may receive more favorable crawl rate, rankings, etc.. (Look at Yelp Ranking in a lot of serps)

So, from these local chambers being around for so long and then having the mechanism of people filling out forms to list their information on the site, they're doing all the data gathering for Google and traditionally providing it in a format that's "cheap" for Google to grab.

Now we've said a lot of positive things about chamber links, I wanted to provide more context on their importance, but let's consider alternatives.

You sometimes can use fractions in meaningful ways to reduce certain aspects or amounts into a more relative or easier to understand setting.

So let's take the cost of listing on a local chamber, a quick Google search says on average $200 - $600 annually.

Okay, so we have our ratio for a local chamber 1/200

Now let's consider a traditional Press release, $199 for 250 backlinks. 199/250 or $0.80 each link. Now, each link may not be as good as a Local chamber.

Now this is seeming like I'm coming at you with a quantity > quality scenario.

But consider the quality of the press release you buy. If you go with a good provider, then you can get backlinks from big sites like AP, Fox, Business Insider, etc..

Now, I'm not saying one is better than the other. I want to provide context and nuances. There may be scenarios where paying for a local chamber link is worth more than a good PR.

Also, when looking at your competition and their backlink profile, if they're all sitting around 50 - 200 backlinks from different referring domains, we can reduce this to a single unit. < 1 Press release

Competitions Backlinks profile < 1 Press release
(50-200) < (250+)

Just something to think about, taking units sometimes, and reducing them to make some decisions easier.

Always said upfront

"SEO takes a while and is expensive"

You want to make sure you're communicating effectively with your client or potential client about the expectations of the effectiveness of SEO marketing.

Search engine optimization can have great returns in the long term because of the implications of what getting onto the first page and then the position on that page and what it entails of potential revenue.

But you also have to consider the time and skills it takes to get into those positions. ( Generally )

Then you have to consider the influence of others and their impact on what it takes, not only the skills to build pages and understand what it takes to get ranked on the search engine, for that specific keyword. (Specifically)

Specific keywords have their own set of influences on what it takes to get into the rankings.

You have to look at each keyword like a set with different influences from the overall market effect on what the search engine is considering to rank pages.
(I'm saying competition matters a lot)

As the influences of market participants on that keyword affect what the search engine not only considers relevant but also what is MORE relevant and where to rank what's more "RELEVANT" in relation to other pages.

If your keyword has 12 years of history in rankings, ex. "Pay day loans", you're not going to rank on the first page in a few months.

Attached is a common example of what time frame SEO usually operates on.

3-4 months, and now November is a 50% increase over the previous month. (For directions too)

Not sure what's appearing in Google search for your website?
A quick little trick is to do a site:"Yourdomainhere" search in Google.
This will show you everything that's indexed in Google that can appear in search.
Did a quick look at a potential client's website, and their author blog shows up, you don't want people searching to find your author blog.
Below is the example, sorry for the red hue, I use blue light blocking software for my eyes.
