The YouTube SEO guide - Summarized

- YT delivers “answers to searcher’s queries”

The algorithm uses these 7 things to determine video ranking for search terms:

1. Description
2. Title
3. Metadata
4. View count
5. Comments
6. Likes
7. Watch time (quality over quantity 😉)

Here’s some additional tips 📈

1️⃣: Use your target keyword in the title
2️⃣: Front load video description with important CTAs and crucial links
3️⃣: Use “advanced settings” to place your video into a category
4️⃣: Optimize the thumbnail (arguable the most impactful action you can take)
5️⃣: This isn’t SEO technically, but add descriptive text during the first 5-15seconds of the video, YouTube auto plays and this can help catch attention
6️⃣: Use SRT files for closed captions and subtitles
7️⃣: Add detailed timestamps 1-4words that people might search under your video title
8️⃣: Add cards to videos that link to other YouTube content related to what is mentioned in the video
9️⃣: Use hashtags, 2-3 and make sure they are related to the video
🔟: Leave a pinned comment below your video with and invitation for comment/CTA
