Many people think it's a souvenir from their train journey. But the reality is far more serious.
RTI data reveals that 1.27 crore railway linen items have gone missing from AC coaches between January 2022 and May 2026.
💰 Estimated loss: ₹104.51 crore
According to contractors and railway linen attendants, the cost of missing linen is often recovered from the salaries of the workers responsible for those coaches. Some attendants reportedly lose ₹2,000–₹3,000 every month because passengers take railway property.
This isn't just about a missing blanket.
It's about public money, increased railway expenditure, and low-paid workers bearing the burden of someone else's actions.

🚨 Indian Railways' New Penalty Rules Are Now in Effect! 🚆
To improve safety, discipline, and passenger experience, Indian Railways has introduced stricter penalties for several violations.
⚠️ Key changes include:
🚺 Men travelling in Ladies' Coaches –> Fine up to ₹2,500
🛍️ Unauthorized Hawking & Begging –> Fine up to ₹2,000
🚭 Smoking in Trains –> Fine up to ₹2,000
🎫 Ticketless Travel –> Minimum ₹500 fine + applicable fare
🚫 Using someone else's ticket, carrying d*ngerous goods, and railway trespassing now attract stricter action as well.
These rules are intended to make train journeys safer and more comfortable for everyone.
