The trials and tribulations of a decidedly overwhelmed buffoon in the world of model trains, featuring HO scale Central European Era VI trains. The definitive "HOW NOT TO" video channel, hosted by me and my various personalities. In the end, it's all about having fun... and I am having fun. I just love running my trains.
The name of the channel comes from both the sense of feeling an outsider because of and within this hobby and a play on all the "Insider" named shows and magazines.
This channel features 4 Elements:
1. The Live Streams
2. The Model Train Outsider- which features the occasional progress on my Layout based on the city of Delmenhorst.
3. The Märklin Outsider- featuring the Märklin System of tracks and control and Märklin-related products.
4. Lots of model-train-related comedy bits.
As this channel appeals to folks from many lands with many languages, I often keep things simplistic to avoid translation issues. They still happen though.

A further update on the extension of the parking area: the 3-way switch has arrived and now things look more balanced, clean, and cohesive. Motors and decoders are scheduled to arrive Wednesday. Video to follow.

Dear YouTube and Channel Friends...
I appreciate all the support we have received regarding our daughter's hospitalization and surgery. If you did not know this happened, now you do.
Just to clarify: My younger daughter who lives with us had 2 cysts/tumors weighing nearly 40 Kilos (88 pounds) removed from her abdomen and side. That is not a misprint... they were that big. The primary tumor was benign, the second will be a recurring problem she will now live with and have to take strong meds to deal with. Because of the extensiveness and size of the main cyst, she will require additional surgery in a few months' time. This was an intensive surgery and, what was a third of her interior the last 3-4 years is suddenly gone. Obviously, this was a longstanding health issue which finally came to a sudden head, and Joyce and I are focused on being with our daughter and helping her through this. She has come through the surgery well enough, but recovery will be a slow road.
I am sorry, but I just can not answer all the calls we are getting (prioritizing family and her friends), especially video chat calls. Also, I am not really focused on checking on YouTube for videos and posts. I am sorry I will miss them, but this can not be helped. I hope you understand.
I will be posting a link for my weekly livestream on Friday, but I would say that there is a 50/50 chance it may not occur. There is a chance she may be released on Friday, and I need to be available. While I am quite proud of my 308 consecutive Friday livestreams, Family will always matter more. If I am to miss Friday, and chance allows, I will stream on Saturday, if it can be done. I will not know until Thursday what Friday will bring. I am also planning on doing a livestream on Sunday LIVE from the Greater Toledo Train & Toy Show beginning @10:00AM EDT Sunday, March 8th, but this is also now a bit uncertain.
