π I've filed a copyright claim, and Youtube promptly removed those videos. I will keep you posted on what happens next, as I have also reached out to Paul Rubens and consulted with a lawyer. Unfortunately, the damage is already done, in my opinion. A clip like that lives on in screenshots, reposts, and memory long after any official action. π On top of that, Paul Rubens products have been reviewed by so many wonderful creators on this platform β artists we all love and respect, like βͺ@SaraTepesβ¬ and Steve from βͺ@mindofwatercolorβ¬ I have no doubt they approached those reviews honestly and in good faith. What troubles me is knowing that my artwork was used alongside that kind of trusted content, without my consent and without my knowledge.
What this really highlights for me is bigger than one brand or one video. It's a reminder of how easily creators' work can be repurposed to sell products to the very people who trust us - and how important it is that we keep talking about it openly, so we can look out for each other. Thank you to everyone who alerted me to this in the first place. π And a special thank you to the fellow creators who reached out with support - including βͺ@KristyRiceβ¬ π your solidarity reminded me why this community matters so much to me, even on a hard week.
It's World Parrot Day! π¦π And I couldn't let it pass without celebrating all the stunning parrots and cockatoos we've brought to life together through watercolor over the years. Thank you all who joined me here + on Patreon as we painted togther. June watercolor teachings are almost ready for you! πΏπ¦ This weekend, new video right here on YouTube: π¦ Vibrant tropical birds β breaking a complex, colourful subject into manageable steps and building gorgeous soft feather texture that truly comes alive on the page. πΏ Granulating watercolour effects β the magical texture that makes tropical subjects absolutely sing. And next week on Patreon, we're painting this full lush tropical composition start to finish β bird, coconuts, the whole thing. As always, I'll provide full narration and black & white outlines. Honestly? This one is going to be so good. π¦π We'll also be working with yellows β building on the glazing and colour theory from the yellow roses tutorial, and learning how to paint luminous, realistic shadows on those tricky warm hues. β¨ Not sure if it's for you? I'll have a bird-only and fruit-only breakdown with separate outlines, so you can focus on exactly what calls to you. Get your brushes ready. This one is for every soul who loves birds, blooms, and the quiet magic of watercolour. I cannot wait to paint alongside you. πΊ π Join me on Patreon: patreon.com/annabucciarelli

β οΈ Major art brand STOLE my art.β οΈ
If you are following me on Patreon you already know the details.... This has been an extremely upsetting experience, obviously. BUT (!!!) this post isn't really about me. It's about our art community as a whole, and what SOME brands are willing to do to sell you their products.
π©π©π©Quick recap for anyone just catching up: Paul Rubens used footage from some of my most popular tutorials - including Blue Orchids & Sunbird & Lemons - my painting, my hands, my technique β and presented it as if I were painting with their watercolours. I wasn't. The paints in that video are QoR and Daniel Smith. This came after they repeatedly asked me to review their products, which I never did. Apparently, Paul Rubens decided that if I wouldn't promote them voluntarily, they'd JUST TAKE what they needed.
π I've filed a copyright claim, and Youtube promptly removed those videos. I will keep you posted on what happens next, as I have also reached out to Paul Rubens and consulted with a lawyer. Unfortunately, the damage is already done, in my opinion.
