Shelter for homeless women in Johannesburg, South Africa. We aim to empower women through providing accommodation, psycho-social support, employment, and skills training.
This Mandela Day, the #HOT1027 family reminded us that real impact doesn't end after 67 minutes.
What started as a simple conversation about the needs of FHS became something far greater. Together with their listeners and strategic partners, the HOT1027 team transformed Mandela Day into a lasting investment in the women and children who call our shelter home.
Through an incredible contribution of **over R300,000**, they didn't just donate, they helped create sustainable solutions that will make our shelter a safer, more dignified place for every woman and child who walks through our doors.
This mini documentary captures only a glimpse of the heart, generosity and collective action that made this possible.
To the entire HOT1027 family, your listeners, and every partner who chose to stand with us: thank you for believing in our 3mission and for proving that Mandela Day can inspire change that lasts well beyond a single day.
I'm thrilled to share that I was part of a documentary exploring the often-overlooked issue of homelessness in South Africa.
We delved into the complexities of homelessness, asking questions like: Who are the people behind the statistics? What factors contribute to homelessness? Is there a typical 'face' of homelessness in SA?
We also examined the government's response and the interventions being made in shelter spaces especially at @fridahartley. FHS has played a pivotal role is housing homelessness women and their children for the past 105years.
The documentary was thought-provoking and informative, and I hope you enjoy watching it. LINK... on my Bio (for those who watch enca, you definitely caught a glimpse of it on TV during the December period) 😍
