DMET-MERI Alumni Association (Hong Kong) is a non-profit association of former cadets from India’s premier marine engineering institute, originally known as DMET, later MERI, and now the Indian Maritime University (Kolkata & Mumbai campuses).
We’re a growing community of maritime professionals based in Hong Kong, united by a common alma mater and a shared commitment to strengthening connections within the global marine engineering network. Our mission is to bring alumni together, encourage mutual collaboration, and uphold the legacy and brand equity of DMET-MERI on the international stage.
Founded in 1949, our institute has consistently produced world-class marine engineers and leaders for the global maritime industry. Through events, mentorship, networking, and knowledge-sharing, we aim to foster a strong, supportive ecosystem for alumni in Hong Kong and beyond.

On 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 2025, IMO calls on all of us with “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯, 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘖𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.” That obligation is real: protecting the seas we depend on. The opportunity?
