Saturday morning vibes: Reflecting on the journey of a man who just wanted to go home. ☕🧭

I spent the last few weeks in Final Cut Pro pulling from 21 different chapters of Sam Beckett’s life to create this tribute. Seeing the 'Mirror Image' ending synced to 'Fate’s Wide Wheel' still hits me every time.

If you’re settling in for some weekend nostalgia, I’d love for you to check out the full ballad. It’s for the fans who remember the 'kitchen table' moments as much as the leaps.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/IpR4viMlUS0

To the 1.1M of you who supported my 'Cry Little Sister' edit—this one carries that same heart. Let me know in the comments: which Leap changed the show for you? 🎭

Cry Little Sister: Is It a 5/10 or a 10/10?

We had a fascinating debate sparked in the comments section recently about the iconic theme from The Lost Boys!
The question was raised: How good is "Cry Little Sister" by Gerard McMann when you take it out of the context of the movie?
One commenter suggested that purely as a standalone song, it's maybe a 5/10. BUT, they argued that once you factor in the atmosphere, the themes, the vampires, and the sheer vibe of The Lost Boys, the song is instantly elevated to a 10/10 classic.
It perfectly highlights the power of synergy between music and film! The song IS the context for many of us, making it almost impossible to judge separately.

What do you think?
Standalone Rating: If you heard this song for the first time on a random playlist with no knowledge of the film, what would you rate it? (5/10, 7/10, etc.)
Cinematic Rating: Paired with the film, where does it rank among the best 80s movie themes?

Let us know if you think "Cry Little Sister" can truly stand on its own, or if it needs the Santa Carla setting to become immortal!

Oh, for the love of all that is undead, can we please put a stake through this persistent misunderstanding?

While it's delightful that the Cry Little Sister track is getting a second, or third, or tenth wind, let's be scrupulously accurate: the definitive, original song featured in the 1987 motion picture, The Lost Boys, was performed by Gerald McMann. A quick glance at the original film's credits—a highly recommended activity, by the way—will confirm that that is the recording the producers managed to use, pre-dating any 2022 remix by a comfortable 35 years. Therefore, if you're listening to a version with a copyright date of 2022, performed by G Tom Mac, you're enjoying a tribute, a remaster, a rebirth, perhaps—but it is decidedly not the song that scored the original movie's iconic vampire antics. The credits speak, and they credit McMann.

Furthermore, the original song was chosen for the music video from the 1987 film. This channel is about nostalgia and this is where things get delightfully confusing, as Gerald McMann and G Tom Mac are the same person—Gerard McMahon—who simply adopted a new stage name later in his career! The key differences are therefore not in the primary artist, but in the production style and era-specific sound of the 1987 original versus the 2022 (or other subsequent) remix/remastered versions. We clearly chose to go with the original authentic vintage 1987 song has it is listed in the credits and on the soundtrack album.

“Gerard Thomas McMahon, also known as Gerard McMann and G Tom Mac, is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who specialises in creating music for films and TV. His gothic rock anthem "Cry Little Sister" was recorded in 1987 for the soundtrack album of the cult horror film The Lost Boys.”

In our experience here at Utility Productions, LLC scenarios in which we’ve had to pass on ideas for music videos because of visibility issues on YouTube.

It is with this in mind that music video production continues unabated. We will still make our videos. However, if they’re not available to post publicly such as a song by the dust Brothers from fight club… We will still retain the full video for whichever platform we can exhibit it on uncensored.

We work within the guidelines of YouTube in order to guarantee that we can still produce videos that you’ll be able to see in their original on altered form.

Know this; there are more music videos then YouTube will allow me to post. If you’d like to see more of that, let me know. The original version of at least two songs exist in their full glory. No matter what the future holds with whatever platform utility Ends up on; we will continue to keep and maintain all of our original music videos. They are archived in our own private database. Where we maintain the original copies of all of our music videos. And in there will retain all the videos too hot for YouTube.

Moving forward and making music videos. Keep your eye on your notifications, especially if you rang the bell for all notifications.

Thank you everyone for your support and viewership.
