Hey everyone, bit of a frustrating update from my end.
As I was trying to stream this evening I noticed that our usual shipspotting spot has been completely closed off for 3 weeks because of a festival that's only actually running for 3 days. Three days. Three weeks of closure. I genuinely can't wrap my head around the logic there. The past two years they never blocked the whole area more than a few days before the event itself, so this came as a very unpleasant surprise. They could've at least kept a small area open like previous years.
The timing couldn't be worse either. We're sitting in probably the worst heatwave on record, with temperatures expected to hit anywhere between 30 and 39°C over the next five days. Standing out in direct sun like that isn't great for the gear and isn't great for myself either, which rules out a lot of improvised alternatives.
Right now I don't have another spot where I can park up close to the river and get decent shots while being shaded by the car. I took two months off work to grow the channel, and having our go-to location taken over for 3 of the 8 weeks is just... really disappointing. So I have to figure out what to do next.

The weather has really not been good for ship spotting the past few weeks. Today is another low visibility day. Hope to be back by the shore of the river as soon as possible!
