There’s one simple technique that took me from beginner to fluent. It only takes 20 minutes a day, but it works like magic.

Step 1. Environment Setup:
- Find a short clip of native speakers. It should be short, interesting, and challenging for you.

Step 2. Deep Listening:
*Listen to the video at least 3 times.
- First time: try to understand the general idea.
- Second time: focus on each detail and try to understand every single word.
-Third time: listen with subtitles and look up the unknown words.

Step 3. Smart Shadowing:
*Practice shadowing in two ways:
- Listen & Copy: Pause after each sentence and copy the native speaker.

- Echo Shadowing: Listen without pausing the video and repeat like an echo.

Step 4: Speaking Practice
* Take the transcript of the video and give it to the AI, and ask it to hold a conversation with you based on the video's topic and then give you feedback about your mistakes.

##Don't forget to record yourself while doing this.

How do you practice your English speaking?

There is a huge debate on the internet about the best method to learn a language. Some people go to extremes with comprehensible input and claim that it is the only way to become fluent. Others say it is all about output practice and deliberate learning. I would say find what works best for you because we are all different, and what worked for me may or may not work for you. Becoming fluent in English is a complex process, and there are a lot of factors that play a role in speaking it fluently.

What worked for me is a balanced approach, a mix between comprehensible input and speaking practice. I don't have much time for studying English, so I look for efficient ways to learn it. I enjoy listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, and reading interesting books, as well as looking up interesting words and trying to use them in meaningful output practice.

I don’t study much grammar, and I definitely don't memorize word lists without context. I used Anki flashcards when I was a beginner, but now I heavily rely on exposure; I know that the most frequent words will keeping popping up over and over again naturally through reading and listening. After enough repetitions, my brain will understand them and ultimately produce them while writing or speaking.

The key is to have fun when you're learning English but also to not stay in your comfort zone forever. The most important factor is CONSISTENCY. Be consistent, and after enough time, you will become fluent. Just don't stop.

Habit #3 The 80/20 Rule
80% of my time is spent on input (listening & reading) and only 20% is spent on output (Speaking & Writing)
Most people believe the fastest way to improve their speaking… is to speak more.
And yes… speaking practice is important. But here's what most people miss…

If you don't have enough English in your head… speaking becomes slow… stressful… and frustrating.
You cannot speak what you haven't heard.
I focused on filling my brain with thousands of hours of audio until it naturally started to overflow into my speaking.
If you aren't fluent yet, you probably just need more input (Comrehensibile Input)

Habit #2 Start and finish your day with English

The very first thing I do when I wake up (before I even get out of bed) is put on an English podcast or audiobook. While I'm making my coffee and going through my morning routine, English is the first thing my brain hears.
And English is the last thing I see at night too. I usually read in English until I fall asleep.
Because of that habit… I dream in English. A lot.

Habit #1 Surround yourself with English

Most people think you have to live in an English-speaking country to become fluent. That's not true. I've never been abroad, yet I see and hear English everywhere. The secret? I surround myself with English at home.

Here's how you can do it too:

1. Change your device language to English.
Studies show that we touch our phones over two thousand times every day. If every notification, every setting, and every button is in English, you're forcing your brain to process the language in "survival mode."

2. Do your Google searches and your AI prompts in English.
Like you use ChatGPT, or Gemini or whatever AI tool every day right? from now on, do this only in English.

3. Practice your hobbies in English.
Do you know that a lot of people became fluent in English just through gaming!

4. Movies, music, news, YouTube videos, podcasts… consume all of it in English. Make English your default

Which one of these are you going to try today? Let me know in the comments! 👇
