This morning, I was having a conversation with someone about herbs, spices, and their potential role in supporting our health.
During our discussion, she mentioned that she has diabetes and noticed a positive change in her blood sugar levels after regularly drinking scent leaf and utazi tea.
That got me curious, so I decided to learn more and share what I found, cos I thought it might help someone💯
This Means that Scent Leaves can help lower blood sugar. But they are not a cure for diabetes.
This is because, Scent leaves contain natural compounds that may support healthy blood sugar levels and help the body fight inflammation.
They can be a nutritious addition to a healthy diet, but they should never replace prescribed diabetes medication.
They may help support blood sugar control, but they are not a cure for diabetes.
Some studies suggest that scent leaves contain compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may help:
✅ Improve insulin sensitivity✅ Reduce blood sugar spikes✅ Support overall metabolic health✅ Reduce oxidative stress associated with diabetes
This is one reason scent leaves have been valued for generations, not only as a cooking ingredient but also as a medicinal herb.
‼️ However, please note:
🌷 If you have diabetes, do not stop or replace your prescribed medications with scent leaves or any herbal remedy.🌷 Scent leaves can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet—in soups, stews, teas, and other dishes.🌷 Regular exercise, healthy eating habits, maintaining a healthy weight, and following your healthcare provider’s advice remain the most effective ways to manage diabetes.
I found this information interesting and thought it might be helpful to someone here.
Have you ever used scent leaves in any way other than cooking? 🥰
I’d love to hear your experience. Please share in the comments below. 👇👇

I thought I loved carrots… until they took over my entire kitchen! 😳😂
Everywhere I turn… CARROTS! 🥕🥕🥕
The walls? Carrots.
The fridge? Carrots.

Even my outfit is made of carrots! 🤯
At this point, I don’t know if I’m making carrot soup or if the carrots are making ME! 😅
If you walked into this kitchen, what would you cook first?

‼️CAN CHILDREN TAKE CHIA SEEDS? 🤔
Yes! Children can enjoy chia seeds as part of a healthy, balanced diet. These tiny seeds are packed with nutrients that support growing bodies.
Why chia seeds are good for children:
✔️ Rich in fiber for healthy digestion
✔️ Contains omega-3 fatty acids that support brain development
✔️ Provides protein for growth and development
✔️ Contains calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus for strong bones and teeth
⚠️ The most important thing: Never give young children dry chia seeds.
Chia seeds absorb liquid and expand, so it’s best to soak them first so as to avoid digestive problems.
The Best Way for Children to Eat Chia Seeds
Because chia seeds absorb a lot of liquid and expand, it is safest to:
* Soak them in water, milk, or yogurt for at least 20–30 minutes before serving.
* Mix them into smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, puddings, pancakes, or baked goods.
* Ensure children drink enough fluids when consuming chia seeds.
How Much Is Appropriate?
* Ages 1–3 years: up to 1 teaspoon per day.
* Ages 4–8 years: 1–2 teaspoons per day.
* Older children: 1 tablespoon per day is usually reasonable.
When to Be Careful
Avoid giving dry chia seeds by the spoonful, especially to younger children, because they can swell after swallowing and may pose a choking risk.
Introduce them gradually to avoid stomach discomfort such as bloating or gas.
And make sure your child drinks enough fluids.
Remember, chia seeds are not a miracle food, but they can be a nutritious addition to your child’s diet when prepared properly.
If your child has difficulty swallowing, digestive conditions, or food allergies, check with their pediatrician before continuing giving them chia seeds or giving them regularly.
For most healthy children, soaked chia seeds in age-appropriate portions are safe and nutritious.
