Eine Gemeinde, die wir als Familie hier in #Deutschland bis 2018 besucht haben, wurde später in eine solche #NAR-Übernahme verwickelt. Im Jahr 2022 eskalierte die Situation in der #G5 Church, einer großen Freien #evangelischen Gemeinde in Süddeutschland, die auch als #FeGRebland bekannt war.

Der Prozess begann, als sich die G5 Church immer stärker mit #AwakeningEurope vernetzte und #BenFitzgerald zu einer regelmäßigen und einflussreichen Persönlichkeit wurde. Anfang 2022 wurde Fitzgerald schließlich tatsächlich als leitender Pastor „gesalbt“. Leiter innerhalb des #FeG-Bundes reagierten öffentlich mit deutlicher Kritik in einem offenen Brief. Ihr Hauptvorwurf: Diese Leitungsentscheidung sei ohne angemessene Beteiligung oder Abstimmung der Gemeinde getroffen worden.

Schon vor und während dieses Prozesses verließen viele langjährige Mitglieder die Gemeinde – faktisch kam es zu einer #Spaltung.

Einige ehemalige Mitglieder berichten, dass sie unter Druck gesetzt, eingeschüchtert oder sogar von Abstimmungen ausgeschlossen wurden, als es um die Frage ging, ob die Gemeinde den Bund verlassen sollte. Anfang 2023 stimmte die Gemeinde schließlich für den Austritt aus dem FeG-Bund und benannte sich später in „#AwakeningChurch“ um. Kritiker und ehemalige Mitglieder sehen diesen Wandel als stark beeinflusst von #Bethel und NAR-nahen Erweckungsnetzwerken. Mehrere beschrieben das in Interviews sogar als eine Art feindliche Übernahme.

Wir selbst haben als Familie die Gemeinde verlassen, nachdem jemand aus der Gemeindeleitung sagte, die #Behinderung unserer Tochter sei von #Satan. Gleichzeitig haben wir intensiv das Gespräch mit der Leitung gesucht, weil wir die wachsenden problematischen theologischen Einflüsse aus dem Bethel-Umfeld als sehr gefährlich wahrgenommen haben. Als die Übernahme schließlich Realität wurde, bestätigten sich unsere schlimmsten Befürchtungen.

In demselben Gottesdienst, in dem Ben Fitzgerald als Leiter eingesetzt wurde, ließ #BillJohnson per Video Grüße ausrichten. In der Folge predigte er mehrfach in der Awakening Church. Seitdem waren zahlreiche Leiter aus dem Bethel-Umfeld dort zu Gast – zuletzt auch #KrisVallotton.

A Church that my family attended here in Germany up until 2018 became embroiled in one of these #NAR church takeovers. In 2022, things blew up inside #G5 Church, a large Free Evangelical church in southern Germany, which was also known as #FeGRebland.
This began when G5 Church started getting a lot more connected to #AwakeningEurope, and #BenFitzgerald became a regular and influential presence. By early 2022, Fitzgerald was literally #anointed as the lead pastor, and leaders in the wider #FeGdenomination publicly pushed back hard with an open letter. Their criticism was that this leadership change was made without proper input or a vote from the broader congregation. Before and during that process, many longtime members left; in all practicality, this was a church split.
Some former members say they were pressured, intimidated, and even shut out of voting when it came time to decide whether to leave the denomination. In early 2023, the church voted to leave the FeG and later rebranded as “#AwakeningChurch.” Critics and former members argue this shift was driven by #Bethel and #NAR-adjacent revival networks, and several have described it in interviews as feeling like a #hostiletakeover.
We are ourselves as a family left when someone from the church leadership said my daughter’s #disability was from #Satan. We tried to talk at length with leadership about the dangerous Bethel theological perspective that we perceived was growing in the church, and when the takeover finally happened, our deepest fears were confirmed.
In the same service where Ben Fitzgerald was anointed as leader, #BillJohnson himself sent greetings via video and subsequently has preached several times at Awakening Church. Since that time many leaders from Bethel have spoken at Awakening Church including lately #KrisVallotton.
