UPDATE on the Garden Grove Chemical Leak:
It’s 9pm PT Sat 5/23

Day 29 of our 30 day renovation race on the eve of our move in date and I can’t even think straight let alone create content when the entire area is on high alert. We are currently safe, but news reports are changing by the hour with the latest saying that the tank is inching on explosion which can happen at any moment. That’s insane. I have no words, only prayers.

We have been told to evacuate the area. I am right on the perimeter of the evacuation red zones, but if the tanks explode there is no telling where it goes, where it lands, how we’re affected and what’s to come. Our governor has already issued a state of emergency here in Orange County and it all feels completely surreal. We are sitting ducks.

I thank you for all your messages of hope and prayers, I will keep you posted as I know more. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

We move in exactly 39 days and while I should be prioritizing this crazy renovation which pales in comparison to all the design projects I’ve taken on for the last twenty years of my life, I have complete designer’s block.

Truth is, I’m holding up our reno.

I can’t make a decision to save my life. I haven’t found the perfect slab which dictates our entire design. You see me smiling, but I’m crying inside. This is the life of an interior designer. It’s FAR from glamorous. We took these images back in Nov when we got the keys to the house before demo.

I want to peel back the layers of design and share all the un-pretty, unfinished, complicated bits that goes into renovations so you understand what it takes to buy a new old house and rebuild it to your specs.

Can I share that?

Do you want to see the moments in between that will undoubtedly “ruin” my feed or are you only here for the finished product? Be honest, I can take it.
