We’ve all heard it a million times:
“Go to school.”
Now — hold on! Don’t throw your graduation cap at me yet. I’m not here to bash education. In fact, if you’re from a poor or middle-class background, school can be a game-changer.
Why School Still Matters
School gives you structure.
It teaches you how to read, write, count, survive group projects without committing a crime, and — most importantly — how to function in society.
Deadlines? School taught you that.
Boring meetings? School taught you those too — we just called them double periods.
Sharing? Yep… even if it meant “sharing” answers under the desk.
✅ So yes, school is a truth you cannot ignore.
But inside that truth is a sneaky little lie…
🕵️♂️ The Lie We Bought Into
“Go to school, get good grades, get a job… and if you’re struggling, get a master’s, maybe even a PhD. That will make you financially successful.”
These are noble achievements — but in today’s world, they’re not a guaranteed path to wealth.
📉 The Old Days vs 📈 Today
In the past:
Jobs were stable.
Employees were respected.
The economy changed slowly.
Today:
Layoffs happen faster than your boss can say “budget cuts.”
Salaries are eaten alive by inflation.
Degrees are everywhere — and so is unemployment.
The old formula of school → job → retire at 65 is broken.
💡 The New Truth
Go to school. Learn. Get good grades.
But when you get that job, don’t just settle.
Use it as your launchpad — to learn the ropes, build your network, stack some cash, and then… go build something of your own.
🚀 Think of it Like This
Take a job with the intention of eventually creating jobs.
Because real freedom? That’s when you can employ others… so they can one day do the same.
Or — here’s the 2025 upgrade: employ AI.
No sick days. No “my cat ate my Wi-Fi.” Just pure output.
🧠 The Real Game Plan
1️⃣ Learn a skill people actually pay for — and let’s be clear, that’s not the same as getting a degree. Your degree? That’s for decoration — okay fine… credibility. A skill is what an employer or client can use today to make money, solve a problem, or save time. Your degree might get you in the door — but your skill keeps you paid.
2️⃣ Sell your time using that skill → That’s called a job.
3️⃣ Buy other people’s time with that money so you can multiply output without multiplying your hours → That’s entrepreneurship.
4️⃣ Sell money to make money → That’s investing. That’s when you stop working for money and start making money work for you.
Final Word
That’s the ladder.
Climb it — and you’re free.
Ignore it — and you’ll spend life playing someone else’s game. else’s game.
