From chasing wealth to finding his Purpose - Avnish Bajaj's journey is truly incredible !
In this episode of chill mizaaz, I had the privilege of speaking with Avnish Bajaj , founder of Z47, one of the sharpest and Visionary minds in india's startup ecosystem.
From failing in early school classes to securing Rank 1 in the 12th board exams, he cracked IIT-JEE and joined IIT Kanpur. He went on to work at global giants like Apple, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs in the US, and pursued MBA from Harvard.
After having such an illustrious career in US, he returned to India to do a startup and get Rich quickly. Sounds funny, but that's true and with that motive, he founded Baazee at a time when the internet wasn't even cool. The venture was later acquired by eBay, and he went on to serve as chairman of eBay India.
He did make a lot of money- yes, but what after that ?
He didn't even buy the Ferrari he once dreamed of. The journey changed him deeply. That's when he discovered his purpose and went on to found Z47 , a leading VC fund in India with a vision to build developed nation by 2047.
Today, Z47's portfolio boasts 10 Unicorns, 5 IPOs and 100+ investments, making him one of the OG investors in India.
But this episode isn't just about venture capital. it's about :
- The choices in life that shaped the person he is today. - Facing imposter syndrome at various stages of life - The importance of having a long term vision in GenZ - Traits of great founders and Z47's investment lens - The future of AI and Deeptech Startups in India
If you are a founder, an investor or 20-something figuring out life this episode is for you.
From JEE AIR 1 to One of India’s Most Renowned Physicists !
In this episode of Chill Mizaaz, I had the privilege of speaking with Prof. Rajesh Gopakumar , Distinguished Professor and Director at ICTS-TIFR, and one of the world’s leading minds in Theoretical Physics.
Yes, the Gopakumar in the famous Gopakumar–Vafa Duality and Gopakumar–Vafa Invariant ( landmark contributions in the field of string theory and quantum geometry ).
His journey is nothing short of inspiring : from securing JEE AIR 1, choosing Physics over Computer Science, completing a PhD at Princeton under Nobel Laureate David Gross, and joining as Research associate at Harvard.
What fascinated me the most is his decision to return to India after an incredible academic career in the US to build and strengthen the scientific ecosystem here.
This conversation isn’t just about physics. It’s about : - The power of curiosity and self-driven learning - The analytical framework of physics in real life - The impact of AI on science and research - The reality of academia in India vs. the world - Lessons on focus, simplicity, and deep thinking
If you are a student, a researcher, a tech enthusiast, or someone curious about Physics, this is a masterclass in first-principles thinking, lifelong learning, and choosing passion over convention.
