It was a warm afternoon in Mumbai, as I headed to meet yet another artist to talk about my ideas for Nrityanidhi (there was no name back then. Just an idea)
Especially on that particular day, I felt so alone. The chatter around me at the local train station faded in the background as a strange loneliness took over my mind. I had a reliance cell phone that I had snatched from Papa after all my efforts of convincing him that I needed a phone; as I was living alone in a strange city. The phone could make or receive calls, send texts and had a feature where three songs played for exactly one minute. 'Aa chal ke tujhe... Mai leke chalu... Ek aise gagan ke talรช...' was one among them. The lyrics said "Come my dear, for I shall guide you towards a vast sky where there is no sorrow, no tears - just the comfort of our love; an infinite shower of love"
I would play this song repeatedly and the only way to listen was by keeping the receiver on the ear. I imagined that it was a call from the Universe & I would unabashedly shed tears as I felt a strong sense of HOPE from the song.
Listening to the song almost every day, became a part of my initial months in Mumbai.

Praangan Mumbai - April 2023 - reminded me of those days & especially of that song. I felt like I had reached. I was under that sky, finally. I was basking in love, art and security; as I was promised. It took TWENTY One Years!

Don't Give Up on your Dreams - a calling of YOUR spirit that feels WONDERFUL, even when it's scary!
Keep going.
