From 2.5 Hours to 50 Minutes: Humanoid Robots Make Huge Leap
The second annual humanoid robot half marathon was held on Sunday in Beijing E-Town with more than 100 teams taking part, including five from overseas. The event featured 26 brands and over 300 humanoid robots.
Developed by the Chinese electronics company Honor, “Lightning” from the Qitian Dasheng team took first place with a time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds.
The progress in performance has been striking. At the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, the winning robot, Tiangong Ultra, finished a race of equal distance in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds.
On April 11, robotics company Unitree released a video showing its H1 robot running 100 meters at 10 meters per second — close to the 10.44 meters per second world record pace set by legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
10-day ceasefire begins between Israel and Lebanon
A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect at midnight between Thursday and Friday local time (21:00 GMT), following an earlier announcement by US President Donald Trump. The truce aims to halt more than a month of deadly escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, which has claimed over 2,000 lives.
