Love Your RV & Boat!
So we ended up spending a whole week on the dock in Campbell River at Fisherman's Wharf. Our Starlink Gen 2 dish failed. I tried a new cable, but no luck, so I bought a new Gen 4 system from Home Depot, and it's working well. Starlink is sending a free refurbished unit, so I will keep that as a backup.
But the wind also picked up, and a large storm system moved through!! So we wisely stayed on the dock and waited for it to pass. Headed out today and have anchored in a nice little bay at Read Island. Great spot. Check the video from last year. www.loveyourrv.com/exploring-the-shoreline-low-tid…

Excitement in the boatyard the other day! An elderly fellow accidentally topped up 4 wet cell lead acid golf cart batteries with antifreeze instead of distilled water. Sounds like they were quite low too, as a lot of the plates were exposed, as he had told me earlier from being on a charger over the winter
Anyway, they started off gassing big time. I noticed large amounts of white vapor coming up from the engine bay when I glanced into his boat. We unplugged the boat and called the fire department. They went in with the respirators on and disconnected the batteries. Firemen said it wasn't too far away from being a thermal event.
Anyway, all is safe now, but what a mess to clean up, with the batteries boiling over everywhere. He is replacing with deep cycle AGM now.

Love Your RV & Boat!
Crossed back over to Lund on the BC mainland from Vancouver Island the other day to prep "Vestri" for the upcoming season. Winter cover is off, and yesterday I got the diesel engine dewinterized and fired up. Everything looks good so far. Have some maintenance to do and a few planned upgrades while Anne refinishes some of the teak. Hoping for a launch in early May!

Packed up the rig yesterday and hit the road after our winter stay at Thunderbird RV Park for a short trip down to Miracle Beach Provincial Park. It's still winter camping rates here till the end of the week: $13 a night! They keep about 25 sites open in the winter first come first serve.

Yesterday we took a fun ride on a floatplane. CorilAir out on the Tyee Spit offers ride-alongs on the daily mail run. In December, they had a 2-for-1 offer on sale. So Anne got it as a Christmas gift. We picked a nice day. Had a blast stopping in Big Bay, Surge Narrows, and Refuge Cove to drop off the mail. The views were spectacular! Took a bunch of video footage, will publish soon.

Love Your RV & Boat!
Anne and I took Powell River yesterday to check on the boat and take our winter RV skirting and other extra stuff to our storage room at the boatyard. The boat has made it through the winter in great condition. Clean and dry, thanks to the winter cover and 2 small low-wattage air circulation heaters.
No signs of any critters either. We'll be heading back in about a month to begin prep for the upcoming season!
