Hello, I'm Russ, founder of Fishing Tail Films. My love for angling started on the Boating Lake at Wanstead Park and the River Lea back in the early 70s, and I've been hooked ever since. Over the years, I've been featured in top angling magazines and appeared on Sky Sports 'Tight Lines' program and the Discovery Channel.
Now, I'm excited to share my adventures with you, focusing on species like Perch, Roach, Tench, Crucian, and Chub. If you love the art and adventure of coarse fishing, you're in the right place.

Back in January 2025 I was asked by talented angler Terry Theobold if I would like to write a chapter for a book he was compiling on the subject of Roach, a fish that I have much admiration for so it was an honour to be asked and of course I accepted. The book went on pre order a couple of weeks ago and is selling very fast, I believe there is only a limited supply left of the Limited Edition only where only 400 have been printed. Hi everyone, for all the new subscribers in the past year to the channel there maybe a video that you might have missed. This is probably my favourite video in the Reeling Back The Years series episode 9 where I recall a fantastic Crucian trip I went on with two fishing friends to Sweden in the august of 2017. I caught some great crucians and witnessed and help weigh two massive Crucians that blew me away. I hope you enjoy the video and please share to other Crucian lovers.

Hi everyone, just a quick thank you to all the recent new subscribers to the channel I am fast approaching 6k which is amazing and I can't thank you enough for supporting the channel over these past 3 or 4 years. The recent Hooked on Bait series has been received well and attracted some new subs and great feedback. You always wonder how running a bait series adjacent to the actual fishing videos is going to go and I think after 3 parts it has gone pretty well. If there are any baits that you would like me to cover in future parts then please let me know. The series is all about my experiences with certain baits and methods so if it has managed to help anyone or reminded that some baits get forgotten over time then that is great.
On the fishing video front, my left arm is improving all the time and plans are afoot for some nice videos and with the river season only a few weeks away then I am looking forward to getting back out on my local and new fishing haunts. I hope your spring fishing is going well and my attention over the next month will be aimed at tench and crucians plus the odd mixed species video as well.
I shall see you by the water's edge very soon and once again a big thank you to all the subscribers and viewers for the likes, hypes and comments.
