On March 3, a 1973 Ford Galaxie 500 sedan was raised from the bottom of Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin, where it had rested for approximately 46 years. The vehicle was found roughly 2.3 miles from Twilight Beach Road, and the recovery operation took around four hours.

The story behind the find had long been considered local legend in the county. According to residents, back in the late 1970s or the winter of 1980, a driver set out to prove that the lake's ice was strong enough to drive across to Oshkosh — only to break through and sink. The driver managed to escape and make it back to shore, though the precise details of the incident have blurred over the decades and vary depending on who tells the story.

The car was discovered about three years ago using sonar equipment, after which its location was confirmed and passed on to specialists in recovering submerged vehicles. Prior to that, many had dismissed the story as fiction, since the exact spot where the car went under had remained unknown for so long.

The Ford's current condition is poor: the body is heavily rusted, some of the glass is missing, the interior is packed with silt, and several components began breaking apart during the recovery itself. Restoration is considered unlikely. For now, the car has been left on display as a local curiosity while a decision is made on whether to preserve it or send it to scrap.

The Story of One Mercedes 😱

In the Spanish city of A Coruña, far from us, there once was an official Mercedes-Benz dealership. Its signature feature was a yellow car in the W115 body style, which had been installed several stories high on the building. This happened sometime between the 1960s and 1970s.

Later, the dealership closed, and in the mid-2000s it was decided to demolish the building. No one bothered to carefully remove the Mercedes - it was brutally thrown down from the height to the ground.
