A heartfelt thank you to THEMA Health Services for generously donating pizza to our nurses’ units. Your kindness helped bring a well-deserved moment of appreciation and community to the teams who care for patients and families across the East Valley.

Dignity Health Foundation East Valley joins our community in honoring the remarkable life of June Neely Morrison (1924–2026). "We have all lost an incredible lady, a powerful force and quiet leader," said Dave Covert, former hospital president who worked closely with her on the hospital board, "let us all build our community in her memory."

June’s legacy is deeply woven into the history and growth of Chandler Regional Medical Center. As a dedicated member of our hospital board, she offered steady leadership, thoughtful guidance, and an unwavering commitment to compassionate care. Alongside her husband, Marvin who sat on the County Hospital Board, she helped support the hospital’s expansion into the trusted community resource it is today.

A lifelong Gilbert resident, June lived a life defined by service, faith, and resilience. From her early days as a student in Gilbert Public Schools to her role as an organist and devoted founder and member of Gilbert United Methodist Church, she consistently invested in the well-being of others. Her impact extended across countless organizations, and her generosity—both personal and philanthropic—touched lives throughout the East Valley.

Even at 101, June continued to bring people together, embodying a spirit of hospitality, strength, and grace. She was truly, in every sense, a grower of opportunities.

We are profoundly grateful for June’s leadership, her generosity, and the lasting difference she made in our hospitals and our community. Her son, Howard Morrison, asked us all to spread love to strangers in her honor and we know her legacy will continue to inspire all of us.

With heartfelt sympathy, we extend our condolences to her family and loved ones.

At Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers, nurses are often the first voices of reassurance and the last hands held. They are the people who stay calm in crisis, soften fear with kindness, and carry families through moments they never expected to face.

For grateful patients John and Kate Altman, that truth became deeply personal. After a frightening medical situation, John feared he might not survive. He remembers thinking he might not leave the hospital at all. What he remembers even more clearly is the way the nurses treated him as someone worth fighting for.

“They didn’t just care for me as a patient,” John said. “They cared for me as a person. Their compassion changed the entire experience.”

Kate added, “Their competence and kindness supported our whole family. I could not have gotten through those hours alone.”

One nurse, Elizabeth, made a lasting impact. When John returned months later to thank her, they embraced with the kind of emotion that can only come from shared vulnerability and genuine connection.
