I've always had a massive phobia of flying. Whenever I went on holiday, I had to psych myself up for a few days to prepare for the flight. In 2013 whilst contracting at EE, my line manager (BC) offered to take me & my family up in a plane from Cardiff International Airport & I I finally got my Private Pilots License in October 2020. It wasn’t easy as the phobia would kick in during lesson & was really debilitating. I am also a keen VR SIMmer & X-Plane 11 has really helped me with real world flying, especially when flying a Nav for the first time as I can comfortably fly this with photo scenery & in VR at home. I am a CAA qualified Commercial Drone pilot under my Ltd Company, Ringtone.net Ltd & under this I also setup Severn FM Radio in June 2011 & this is still going strong. I am also a Reiki II practitioner & a licensed Radio Ham & I love playing the piano by ear.
Day job is Mobile Networks under Ringtone.net Ltd which operates this YouTube channel & The Phobic Flyer in general.

We've made the decision not to travel to Shobdon today and livestream. The forecast is not great for wind, rain and cloudbase and it's a long drive. We are really dissapoointed.

I’m very sorry to say that today’s livestream from Gloucestershire Airport is cancelled. While the morning skies look promising, the ground behind the Aviator is saturated after heavy overnight rain, and the wind forecast later today isn’t ideal for filming (or flying in my opinion that is).
I’ve been watching the hourly updates closely, and with gusts forecast to reach nearly 40 mph around lunchtime, it’s just not the right setup for a safe or enjoyable stream. It takes a good 90 minutes to setup and I know many of you were looking forward to it, I was too, but I’d rather pause than push through poor conditions.
Thanks for your understanding, and I’ll aim to reschedule when the weather plays ball. Stay tuned and stay safe.

I was up at the Aviator today doing a site survey, and the field behind it is absolutely soaked. With the forecast ice on the way, I’ve decided to play it safe and cancel tomorrow’s livestream from Gloucestershire Airport. It’s a shame, because it actually looks like a cracking flying day, so I may still nip up and film instead.
If you want it a bit more formal, more casual, or more “social‑media punchy,” I can tune it.
