Meet Sanjeev Sanyal, one of India’s most influential public policy thinkers.

Currently serving as a Member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Economic Advisory Council with the rank of Secretary to the Government of India, he has played a key role in shaping major economic reforms since 2017.

What makes his journey inspiring is that he came from economics, finance, research, and global policy not the traditional civil services route.

Before joining the government, he spent over two decades in international financial markets and became Managing Director & Global Strategist at Deutsche Bank. He represented India at forums like the G20, OECD, and G7, and later became Principal Economic Adviser to the Finance Minister.

An alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce and a Rhodes Scholar at University of Oxford, his career proves that expertise, research, and strategic thinking can also shape national policy.

Brain Behind TVK’s Surprise Victory: Meet Jhon Arokiasamy

Born in Andhra Pradesh, He completed his Master’s from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, followed by an MBA from LIBA Chennai. He began his career in Public Relations, working across firms and moved into the arena of political consulting.

In 2018, he founded JPACPersona. But his biggest breakthrough came when he saw Vijay’s massive online fandom not just as celebrity popularity, but as potential political support.

The inspirational story of Dr. Shamika Ravi, Member of Prime Minister- Economic Advisory Council and Secretary to the Government of India

Born in Patna and raised in Kerala, Dr. Shamika Ravi did not enter the traditional bureaucracy through the UPSC route. There was no IAS rank beside her name, No district training and No conventional path into government.

Yet years later, she would sit at the highest policy tables in India helping shape conversations around the economy, welfare, healthcare, finance, gender, urbanisation, and governance.

Her journey was built not on administrative authority, but on expertise.

From Lady Shri Ram College to Delhi School of Economics, and eventually earning a PhD from New York University. Over the next two decades, she became more than an academic. She became a voice that governments listened to.

Through her work at Brookings India, ORF, and multiple global policy platforms, Dr. Ravi became a trusted voice in India’s policy ecosystem.

She taught students, published influential research, advised policymakers and contributed to some of India’s most important development conversations.

Slowly, without ever clearing an IAS examination, she became part of shaping India itself.

That is what makes her story powerful, because it challenges a belief many young Indians grow up with: that public impact only comes through a government rank.

Congratulations to Keerthana Sampath- A Political Consultant turned Cabinet Minister

Keerthana’s journey reflects the rise of a new generation in Indian politics.

From pursuing B.Sc Mathematics and M.Sc Statistics to becoming a Gandhi Fellow, her foundation was built on numbers, people, and grassroots understanding. She then entered the world of political consulting, working at Showtime Consulting as a Digital Communication and Campaign Strategist, where strategy met storytelling and data met democracy.

But her journey did not stop behind campaign war rooms.

She stepped directly into active politics through TVK, contested from Sivakasi, created history by defeating her rival Ashokan G, and became the first woman MLA from Sivakasi.

And now, she takes oath as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Her portfolio may still be awaited, but her rise already sends a powerful message, the future of Indian politics is changing.

Political consulting is no longer limited to managing campaigns from the background. A new era is emerging where consultants are becoming legislators, ministers, and government builders because they understand public sentiment, communication, governance, and the power of data-driven politics.

From strategy rooms to the cabinet table, this is not just a personal victory.

Meet Keerthana Sampath: Political Consultant Turned MLA

Keerthana Sampath’s journey reflects how political consulting is becoming a strong pathway towards active politics and leadership.

She completed her Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University and Master’s in Statistics from Pondicherry University. She was also part of the Gandhi Fellowship at Piramal Foundation (2018–2020 batch), where she gained grassroots exposure and governance understanding.

Later, she entered political consulting and worked at Showtime Consulting, gaining experience in digital communication, campaign strategy, election management, and political operations.

Then came the transition from consultant to candidate.

Representing Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam from the Sivakasi Assembly Constituency, she defeated her nearest rival Ashokan G by 11,670 votes and became the first woman MLA from Sivakasi. From strategy rooms to winning an election in the very first attempt.

India is witnessing a new era of political consultants becoming politicians. As political consultants, they already develop highly relevant skill sets like narrative building, branding, constituency understanding, agenda setting, voter behaviour analysis, and campaign execution. These are the same capabilities required to become impactful political leaders.

This is just the beginning. In the coming years, India will witness many more political consultants entering politics, winning elections, and creating scalable impact on the ground.

That is the future of political consulting.
