I’ve been thinking about creating a realistic nursing school survival guide 🩺🤍

Not one of those “perfect aesthetic” guides… but a REAL one with the things I genuinely wish I knew before starting nursing school:
• how I studied
• balancing work + school
• clinical anxiety
• burnout
• budgeting during school
• what actually helped me pass

Would you guys be interested in something like this? 🫶

Nurse April

Hi everyone 🤍 I wanted to give you a real life update because I plan on being super open and honest about my journey—especially during this transition into my nursing career.

I officially graduated nursing school this March 🥹🎓 and it still doesn’t feel real. This is something I’ve prayed and cried over for years, so finally reaching this milestone has been such an emotional and rewarding moment for me.

Right now, I’m in that in-between phase. I’m currently waiting for my authorization to take my NCLEX, which can take about 10–30 days after applying. I didn’t realize how long this process would be, and I’ll be honest—it’s a little frustrating because I feel so ready to take it while everything is still fresh in my mind. But I’m staying patient and positive 🤍

In the meantime, I’m still working in the pharmacy and trying to pick up as many hours as I can. It’s been a little tough since hours get cut around this time of year, and on top of that, I recently had a $5,000 car repair (worst timing 😅). My car is currently in the shop, so I’ve definitely been dealing with some financial stress—but I know this is just temporary.

On a positive note, I DO already have a job lined up 🥹💉 I’ll be working in pediatric home care, and I successfully negotiated my pay from $32 to $35/hour. Please don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself—you deserve it.

I also plan to make a full video explaining the entire process after nursing school (NCLEX registration, authorization, licensing, etc.) because it can be VERY confusing, and I want to help make it easier for you guys.

This is definitely the last stretch of stress before everything starts coming together, and I truly believe things are only going up from here 🤍

Thank you for being here and supporting me through every stage of this journey. I’m going to keep sharing everything—raw and real.

More videos coming soon ✨

Nurse April

This girl wanted to go to nursing school so badly right out of high school. But a few months later, I was kicked out at 19 and forced to grow up fast. My boyfriend at the time offered to move out with me, but he cheated on me continuously over the years. I was working in factories, hating my life, and living paycheck to paycheck with a man who didn’t truly love me — but at the time, I didn’t see a way out.

One day, I decided I was done living that way. I took out whatever loans I needed to pursue a nursing career. It took me about two and a half years to finish my prerequisites before I finally applied to a nursing program. I got denied for the spring semester but accepted for the fall. Around that time, I finally found the courage to leave my boyfriend. I took out additional loans to cover my living expenses so I could be on my own.

I moved in with my older sister — she was the only one who offered me a safe place to go. The rest of my family treated me like I was nothing to them. No one was there for me while I struggled to survive on my own. No one stood up for me or supported me through the pain of dealing with parents who weren’t there for me. I’ll never forget how my own family treated me during one of the hardest times of my life.

But I didn’t give up. I kept my ambition and was determined to make something of myself. Unfortunately, I failed my first semester of nursing school by just 2%. My dreams felt crushed, and I was completely lost. My sister couldn’t let me stay much longer, and I was only making $23 an hour working as a pharmacy tech, so I had to figure things out fast.

I ended up buying a house — but it was in a really bad neighborhood. Still, when I moved in, I was proud to finally be self-sufficient. I didn’t need anyone anymore, but I was struggling. My hopes and dreams felt out of reach. I didn’t think I was smart enough to make it through nursing school, and I couldn’t afford to go back.

Fast forward four years, and I’m finally about to finish nursing school. I graduate in just five months. I want to use my YouTube platform to inspire others who are struggling — to show that you can overcome any obstacle and persevere to achieve your dreams. I’m documenting my journey through nursing school, and I can’t wait to share what life looks like after graduation.

I wanted to post this to give a little backstory on how much I’ve struggled and how much I’ve overcome. Look at me now — I’m about to be a nurse 🥹 Don’t ever give up on yourself. If you’re struggling right now, let this be your sign to get up and change your life around. No excuses.
