Imagine you are paddling out, but it's not saltwater beneath your board—it's a sub-zero ocean of liquid methane. Welcome to Kraken Mare, Titan.

Sounds like full tilt Science Fiction right? Well, Cassini data has shown that Titans seas have the potential to form 3 meter wind driven waves.. and the best bit, Titan is the most habitable object for humans in our Solar System outside of earth.

Because of its thick atmosphere and high surface pressure, you wouldn't need a crushing, rigid spacesuit like you would on the Moon or Mars. Technically, you just need an extremely well-insulated, heated suit and an oxygen mask!

Now the super cool bit.. The physics here completely rewrite the rules of surfing. Titan's gravity is only about 14% of Earth's, and liquid methane is about half as dense as our water. What does that mean for the break? The waves here build much higher, but they move in incredible, sweeping slow motion. That 3-meter glassy barrel you're eyeing takes its sweet time to peak, giving you the longest, most surreal drop-in of your life.

Now here is the tricky bit.... Because methane is less dense, you need a custom board with massive volume and surface area just to stay buoyant. And forget your winter wetsuit—at a bone-chilling -290°F (-179°C), you are rocking a heavily insulated, mechanically heated suit and a closed-loop oxygen supply. You also better make sure you stay with your board, without it you will sink like a stone.

However if you ever manage to get there, carving a line through liquid hydrocarbons under a thick, hazy orange sky, knowing the rings of Saturn are hovering somewhere above... it is the absolute ultimate frontier for chasing the most perfect, surreal and terrifying waves in the solar system.

Incredible reception on the Cape Solander video this week! 🌊 We’re currently arguing about which wave was actually the heaviest.
