Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana) is one of the most common posess that you will come across in any yoga class and it also remains one of the most difficult pose to perform, not because it is complex but simply because of lack of mobility and alignment in the body. Below are some common problems you might face and how to fix them
β’ Problem 1 - Arching of upper back due to short hamstring and posterior pelvic tilt.
β’ Problem 2 - nonsequential arch due to flat back and functional or structural stiffness in the lumbar vertebrae.
β’ Problem 3 - hyperextended knees
ADAPTATIONS & PREPARATORY EXERCISES
β Bend your knees
β Place your hands on an elevated surface
β Take full sitting position(knees bent) on a block and pull body forward on chair while maintaining neutral spine
β Sit with one straight lege, as other bent. Arms provide support behind the back and push the floor
β Sit on a block with leg bent and pull the trunk with a strap
β Lying on back, raise the leg and pull it using a strap
