India and the U.S. have held five rounds of talks since March 2025 on a proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement. Despite Trump’s pressure tactics, India refuses to open sensitive sectors such as agriculture and dairy without safeguards. The government emphasised that it would take all necessary steps to protect national interest.
