Haqeeqat Bhi Kahani Bhi is a documentary series dedicated to rediscovering the forgotten masters of Indian classical music. Through rare recordings, archival photographs, newspaper accounts, memoirs, and historical research, this project seeks to reconstruct the lives and legacies of artists who shaped the musical culture of the Indian subcontinent but were gradually lost to public memory.

From the courts of princely states and the salons of Lucknow, Agra, Banaras, and Calcutta to the dawn of the gramophone age, these musicians left an indelible mark on Hindustani music. Yet many of their stories remain scattered across fading records, family recollections, and neglected archives.

This series is an effort to separate myth from fact, memory from history, and legend from documentation—where haqeeqat (reality) meets kahani (story).

The episodes will feature forgotten vocalists, instrumentalists, composers, courtesan-musicians, early recording stars, and musical visionaries whose artistry continues to echo through generations.

The first episode explores the life and legacy of Zohrabai Agrewali, one of the most celebrated singers of her era and a towering figure in the history of Hindustani music.
