The confrontation happened during a protest demanding justice for a Dalit student found dead in Rohta. While critics call it a human rights violation, others argue tough measures are needed to maintain public order during intense road blockades.
This issue has also taken communal and casteist overtones, and many political leaders are claiming that Avinash behaved badly because he is a Brahmin, while the accused people are Dalit.
