A little over 5 years ago, we said "you know what...we should start putting our fishing adventures on YouTube." We set out with a goal and a vision to create great fishing content while remaining true to our passion as anglers. - Since then, it's been a rocky road with many highs and many lows. We've taken long breaks, moved locations, had kids, etc etc etc...but we've never quit. - We've watched other creators succeed faster with more "viral" style content, and for a time we considered going down that path. But overall we've stayed true to ourselves and kept it about REAL fishing. - It's not always been easy and there's probably a lot of missed opportunities we can count along the way, but here we are today, still plugging along. And in the past few months, it feels like we've hit a new stride with our videos. - We hit 20k subscribers a couple days ago, and we couldn't be more excited, grateful, and appreciative of everyone who watches and supports us! It might have taken us awhile to get here, but we still feel like we're just getting started! The march to 30k and beyond begins!
HOT OFF THE PRESS! NC will get Delayed Harvest stocking this fall/winter!
Huge news for folks in this region as many thought there would be no stockings whatsoever with the hatcheries sustaining major damage from hurricane Helene.
This is very fresh news, we are still unsure of the situation and where these fish are coming from - whether some in-state hatchery stock survived, private hatcheries being contracted, or out-of-state fish being brought in.
Either way, this is great news for fly fishing in NC as it should allow for more consistent angling opportunities through the winter and help guides and fly shops continue to do steady business.
Wanted to thank you all for the response to our most recent video. Our goal was to provide some form of a report on our rivers and trout fishery here in NC and reassure anglers that trout fishing is not dead after the storm. From the response, it seems like we were successful in doing so.
However, we do understand that there are many areas that absolutely were destroyed including many rivers that were blown out completely. In these areas, fishing will take a long time to recover as fish and aquatic insects were likely washed out to a large degree.
While we are praying for these heavily hit areas and encourage anyone with time and resources to volunteer and donate, that does NOT mean that other parts of WNC aren’t open for business and tourism. As we stated in the video, the further western portion of the state (west of Asheville roughly) was less affected by the storm. These areas need tourism right now!
This past Saturday, CJ and I hit a couple rivers in this region to sample the fishing. We had a great day and found some fish. We filmed and will have a video from this trip soon with additional reports and observations for those curious about angling opportunities this fall.
No video this weekend, but plenty of content is coming soon. Stephen and I are headed to the mountains to do some camping, fishing and filming. Wish us luck!
