Heard the feedback on the ending of my most recent video. Fair point, the three scenarios should have been in the video itself, not just teased. Here are the essentials:
Slow erosion (50 to 60%) — the most likely future. EU doesn't collapse. Institutions keep functioning. Defence spending climbs but never enough. Populist parties keep gaining seats. Europe becomes the global equivalent of mid-stage Japan. Functional, prosperous, no longer setting the agenda anywhere. Hard fragmentation (25 to 30%) — the EU bifurcates within 18 months of a real trigger. A hard core forms around France, Germany, Benelux, and the Nordics. Hungary and Slovakia drift toward Russia. The Baltics become the most exposed. Trigger candidates include Le Pen winning 2027, AfD breaking 30% in September 2026 state elections, a French debt crisis, or a Baltic incident. Forced integration (15 to 20%) — existential pressure forces the EU to centralise. Eurobonds for defence, real fiscal authority, a Franco-German army core. Possible but historically unlikely. Every previous crisis has produced the minimum response and not one inch more.
