Sometimes homesteading means building a greenhouse… and sometimes it means wrapping your carrots in plastic wrap like a baked potato because Mother Nature chose violence. 😂🌧️🥕
Our little carrot sproutlings have been getting absolutely hammered by heavy rain lately, so I threw together a quick DIY protective tent out of saran wrap to help shield them while they’re still tiny and fragile.
No fancy setup. No expensive gear. Just adapting and figuring it out as we go. That’s honestly what this whole journey has been about.
People think growing food has to be perfect. Truth is, half the time it’s just creativity, persistence, and trying not to let your plants drown overnight. 😂
We’ll see if the carrot bunker survives the storm. Stay tuned. 🌱

We officially tested our homemade seasoning blend on fresh backyard eggs this morning… and honestly? 🔥
The parsley was planted, harvested, dried, and ground right here on the homestead. The eggs came straight from our chickens.
THIS is the dream.
Not perfection. Not pretending to be experts. Just learning real skills one step at a time and building a life that feeds our family a little more every season.
And somehow our first blend came out tasting almost Italian-style 😂🇮🇹

Birthday gift secured 👀🔥

We finally got a dehydrator for the homestead and of course we had to test it out immediately. 🌱

This is a huge step for us because now we can start experimenting more with preserving food, drying herbs, making seasoning powders, and wasting less of what we grow ourselves.

Honestly, this thing might become one of the most-used tools on the homestead 😂

We finally did it… 🌱🔥

We turned crops from our garden into our very own homemade seasoning powder.

This started with tiny seeds in the dirt. Then came the watering, the harvesting, drying everything out in the sun, grinding it up… and now we’re seasoning our food with something we grew ourselves right here on the homestead.

That feeling is hard to explain.

Little by little we’re trying to learn old-school skills again and rely less on stores for every little thing. This is just one small step, but it’s a big moment for us.

A few days ago it looked like barely anything was happening… now the bucket looks like a tiny carrot jungle.

That’s one thing gardening keeps teaching us: growth happens quietly until one day it doesn’t.
