Some of you have asked where we’ve disappeared to over the last couple of months.
The simple answer is… we’ve been incredibly busy.
We’ve been working on something behind the scenes that we’re genuinely excited about. It’s taken far more time than we ever imagined, but we think it’ll be worth the wait. We’ll tell you more when the time is right.
At the same time, we’ve also been overwhelmed by the number of golfers travelling to ProperGolfing for XXIO fittings. It’s been one of the busiest periods we’ve ever had, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support.
To everyone who’s booked a lesson, a fitting, watched a video or simply shared our content thank you. We never take it for granted.
The good news is that the YouTube videos are back. We’ve got plenty planned, including more coaching, more myths to bust and, as always, practical advice to help you enjoy your golf.
Thanks for sticking with us.

DRIVER CONFIDENCE DAY – THE OXFORDSHIRE | JUNE 8TH

If your driver feels like the weakest part of your game… this day is for you.

I’m hosting a Driver Confidence Day at The Oxfordshire Golf Club on June 8th, and it’s designed for golfers who are fed up with inconsistency, lack of distance, and that feeling of standing on the tee not quite trusting what’s about to happen.

This isn’t a typical golf lesson.

This is about finally understanding:
• Why your driver breaks down under pressure
• What actually controls start direction and curve
• How to generate effortless distance without forcing it
• And most importantly… how to trust your swing again

On the day, we’ll work through:
• Simple, proven movements that improve strike instantly
• How to release the clubhead properly (not hold on or steer it)
• Building speed without tension
• A clear on-course strategy so it transfers to the tee

You’ll see your ball flight change in front of you—and more importantly, you’ll understand why it’s changing.

This is for golfers who:
• Feel tense or unsure with the driver
• Have lost distance over time
• Slice, block, or hit inconsistent strikes
• Want something that actually works on the course—not just the range

By the end of the day, the goal is simple:
You stand on the tee and feel calm, clear, and confident.

That’s when golf becomes enjoyable again.

Limited spaces available.

If you’d like to join us, message me directly or head to propergolfing.com to register your interest.

JUST LANDED – XXIO 14 RANGE NOW AVAILABLE

If you’re serious about enjoying your golf again… this is worth your attention.

The latest XXIO 14 range has arrived, and it’s not just another set of clubs, it’s a completely different approach to performance.

These clubs are specifically designed for golfers who don’t want to fight the game anymore.

What makes XXIO different?
They are built for moderate swing speeds, meaning you don’t need to swing harder to get more distance. In fact, the opposite is true…

• Lighter overall weight = easier to swing
• Effortless launch = higher, straighter ball flight
• Smart weighting = more speed without extra effort
• Premium feel = confidence at impact

Who are they for?
If you’re a golfer who:
– Feels like you’ve lost distance
– Struggles to get the ball airborne
– Finds modern clubs too heavy or hard work
– Wants a more enjoyable, flowing swing

…then XXIO is built for you.

Why this matters (and why we fit them properly)
At ProperGolfing, we don’t just hand you a club we match it to your swing.

Custom fitting is the difference between:
❌ Guessing and hoping
✅ Knowing it’s right for you

When your equipment works with your natural movement, everything becomes easier — distance, strike, consistency, confidence.

We’ve seen golfers gain 20–40 yards simply by combining the right movement with the right club.
If you’re curious, let’s have a conversation.
No pressure. Just clarity.

Visit propergolfing.com and get in touch to arrange a call or fitting.

This isn’t about new clubs.
It’s about making golf feel easy again.

30,000 Subscribers , Thank You

We’ve just passed 30,000 subscribers, and we want to say a genuine thank you to every single one of you who watches, comments, and supports the channel.

What makes this number even more meaningful is that around 85% of golfers never take a lesson. For many golfers, YouTube is the only place they look for guidance.

That’s exactly why we make these videos.

Our goal has always been simple:
to share honest coaching, real insights, and practical ideas that help golfers enjoy the game more and play better golf.

If our videos have helped you even a little with your swing, confidence, or understanding of the game, then this channel is doing exactly what it was created for.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

Proper Golfing | Home of the Timeless Golf Swing

Most golfers aren’t practising.
They’re just hitting balls.

I watched a golfer in our simulator today.

Shot after shot.
No pause.
No reflection.
Just hit → react → grab the next ball → repeat.

From the outside it looks committed.
From the inside, nothing is actually changing.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth most golfers never hear:

If there’s no pause, there’s no learning.

Your brain needs time to connect movement to outcome.
Your body needs space to organise itself.
Without that space, all you’re doing is repeating the same habit, sometimes faster, sometimes harder, but rarely better.

This is why so many golfers say:
• “It feels great on the range but disappears on the course”
• “I practise loads but don’t improve”
• “I know what to do but can’t do it under pressure”

It’s not a lack of effort.
It’s the way the effort is applied.

The biggest breakthrough I’ve seen recently didn’t come from a drill, a swing thought, or a new piece of tech.

It came from taking balls away.

Fewer shots.
More intention.
Time to look at what actually happened before doing it again.

When golfers slow down, something powerful happens:
• Awareness increases
• Tension reduces
• Coordination improves
• Confidence starts to build

This isn’t about perfect positions.
It’s about changing patterns.

And once a pattern changes, the swing follows.

If this resonates, don’t ignore it.

Ask yourself next time you practise:
• What am I trying to change?
• How will I know it’s changing?
• Am I giving myself time to learn or just time to hit?

This way of thinking is at the heart of what we do at ProperGolfing.
It’s not louder coaching.
It’s clearer coaching.

If you’d like help practising with purpose or you’re curious why your hard work hasn’t translated yet, get in touch.

📩 info@propergolfing.com

If this made you stop and think, share it with a golfing friend who’s stuck practising harder but not improving.

Sometimes the biggest change starts by doing less, better.

8 Things Most Golfers Don’t Realise (Until It’s Too Late)

Most golfers think improvement is about finding “the next tip”.
But inside the ProperGolfing Vault, hundreds of real lessons, real swings, real results, we see the same hidden truths again and again.

Here are 8 things that will genuinely change how you think about your golf:
1. Your worst rounds usually aren’t “your swing falling apart”… they’re the clubface drifting open by a few degrees.
2. You can gain speed without swinging harder we regularly see speed jumps (e.g., 59 → 65mph) simply from a better backswing and wrist set.
3. Winter golf can quietly steal around 20% of your distance. It’s not always you.
4. Most golfers who “can’t set the wrists” can… they’re just doing it in the wrong order. Turn first, then set.
5. The quickest way to learn release is to intentionally hit one wrong, then one feeling the correct release. Your brain learns instantly.
6. “Poor coordination” is often tension and timing, remove the tension and it reappears.
7. A beautiful backswing doesn’t score. Impact and through impact do.
8. Tips don’t transform golfers. Proof does.

If any of that made you pause…
you’re not missing motivation, you’re missing the feedback that stops the guessing.

What’s the one thing you’ve never properly understood in your own swing: strike, face control, distance loss, or consistency under pressure?

Proper Golfing | Home of the Timeless Golf Swing

Here’s a question that might challenge what you’ve been told for years:

Why do so many golfers hit their best shots when they stop thinking, yet are told they must think more to improve?

It sounds backwards, but it isn’t.

The golf swing is not controlled like a checklist. It’s a learned, coordinated movement run largely by the subconscious part of the brain. When you overload it with instructions, backswing here, arms there, keep this straight, don’t do that, the system slows down and tightens.

That’s not opinion. That’s how human motor learning works.

When golfers “lose it” after a lesson, it’s rarely because the swing has broken. It’s because conscious control has stepped in where it doesn’t belong.

This is why:
• Thinking about positions often reduces speed and consistency
• Trying harder usually makes timing worse
• Focusing on the swing itself increases tension

And it’s also why this works so well:

When a golfer focuses on an outcome, a balanced finish, a target, a smooth rhythm, the body organises itself automatically to achieve it. The brain prioritises coordination and balance without needing instructions.

In our own coaching data, we see this pattern repeatedly:
• Peak shots appear when thinking reduces
• Balance improves before scores do
• Distance often increases without extra effort

This is also why golfers get confused.

They’ll say:
“I wasn’t trying and it flew miles.”
“I didn’t think about anything and it was perfect.”
“I tried to repeat it and lost it again.”

Nothing mysterious happened.
The brain simply worked better when it wasn’t being micromanaged.

This doesn’t mean practice is pointless.
It means practice has to be designed differently.

Practice that overloads thought creates fragile swings.
Practice that guides attention creates resilient ones.

Over the coming weeks, we’re going to share more posts like this, grounded in real coaching evidence and well-established motor learning research to help golfers understand why things happen, not just what to try next.

If it helps you stop fighting your swing and start trusting it, that’s progress.

Proper Golfing | Home of the Timeless Golf Swing

Can I ask you a question?

Have you ever noticed that when you practise with real intent, not just hitting balls, your golf can start to feel worse before it feels better?

The swing feels unfamiliar.
Your old miss disappears.
The shots feel less predictable.

And you start wondering if you’ve made a mistake.

You haven’t.

What’s actually happening is change. Real change.
And change almost always feels wrong before it feels right.

When you practise with purpose, your brain stops relying on old compensations and starts reorganising movement. Control often fades before coordination returns. Consistency dips before a better pattern replaces it.

That uncomfortable middle stage is where most golfers panic and where most improvement is quietly lost.

Here’s what to pay attention to during change:
• The occasional shot that flies better than anything you’ve hit before
• A lighter, freer feeling through the ball
• Moments where it suddenly feels easier, even if they don’t last yet

Those aren’t accidents. They’re signals.

And here’s what to ignore:
• One bad session
• Short-term averages
• The urge to go back to what used to “work”

In our own coaching data, we consistently see the same thing:
peak performance appears before consistency returns.
Distance, strike and direction improve in flashes first, then settle later.

That’s not failure. That’s learning.

At this time of year, Christmas reminds us of something important.
You don’t build something meaningful in a rush.
You don’t judge it halfway through and decide it isn’t working.
You trust the process.

On the other side of purposeful practice is calmer golf.
More confidence.
A swing you don’t have to fight.

Over the coming weeks, we’re going to start sharing a series of short posts here, backed by real coaching data and simple science, to help golfers understand their swings, not just watch another tip, then another video, then another fix.

If it gets you thinking rather than tinkering, we’ve done our job.

If your golf feels unsettled right now, you’re not lost.
You’re in the middle and that’s exactly where improvement begins.
