trying to figure out people's intuition for what the "watch time from subscribers" statistic from youtube analytics means. (you know the one, it's the thing youtubers point to to say "most people who watch my videos are not subscribed and this is bad therefore you should subscribe")

which of these two hypothetical situations would cause a larger increase in the percentage of "watch time from subscribers"?

situation A: someone watching youtube clicks on a video from a channel they've never seen before. they then spend the next five hours watching more videos from that same channel, then decide that they might want to watch more from this channel in the future, so they click subscribe, click the bell to enable notifications, and then they close youtube and go do something else.

situation B: someone watching youtube clicks on a video from a channel they've never seen before. they watch the first fifteen seconds of the video, then they get bored and click on someone else's video.
