HomeGrown Passion

Homegrown Passion is about growing our own food and enjoying life in the country at Bradwood Farm. I have a commercial hydroponic greenhouse, and do traditional farming, gardening, and I raise beef cattle. I try to keep the videos positive, fun and interesting and include many growing tips to help viewers grow their own food too. I have been doing hydroponics for 10 years and cattle farming since 1984. Check out some videos and leave me a comment. Thanks for checking out my channel! Katy

The new melon video is live! 🍈🌱

Hi friends!

Today’s new video is up, and we’re planting hydroponic melons and moving them outside into our cattle panel trellis system between the greenhouse and the strawberry high tunnel.

This one is such a fun project because we’re taking those melon plants from the greenhouse, setting them into grow bags, feeding them with our hydroponic system, and giving them a strong trellis so they can climb instead of sprawling all over the ground.

I love trying things like this because every season teaches us something new — and if these melons do what I’m hoping, we may have some really beautiful fruit hanging from those panels before long.

Come watch the video and let me know what you think. Would you try growing melons this way?

Also, our new Patreon page is now open: Homegrown Passion with Katy ❤️

That’s where I’ll be sharing extra grower guides, recipe cards, behind-the-scenes farm updates, member-only videos, greenhouse photos, chats, and more of the little everyday moments that don’t always make it into a Sunday video.

You can join us here:

Thank you so much for watching, supporting the farm, and growing along with us.

Arugula planting day in the greenhouse! 🌱

Today I’m sharing one of my little NFT hydroponic tricks that helps my baby greens fill in so pretty.

Most people would probably drop one Oasis cube in each hole and call it good… but I like to sneak two in there. 😄

It gives me fuller growth, better spacing, and those cute little rows of arugula that make the greenhouse look like it has its life together — even when I don’t.

Big news from the farm! 🌱

This Saturday is opening day for the 2026 Hudson Farmers Market season, and Katy is going live from the market!

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes getting everything ready — greenhouse harvests, produce, flowers, market setup, and all the little details that go into the first big market morning of the year.

Katy will be live on YouTube at 8:30 AM before the market opens, then we’ll keep the camera going into the first part of the market so you can see the booth, the flow, the opening morning excitement, and what we’re bringing to Hudson this season.

The market runs from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, so come hang out with us live before the crowd gets rolling.

We’re excited for a fresh season, a fresh start, and another year of sharing what we grow with our market community. 💚

Set a reminder and join Katy live Saturday morning!

Quick update from the farm ❤️

We were hoping to go live this morning with Katy bottle feeding our little orphaned bull calf, but we just couldn’t get YouTube Live to cooperate. So instead of missing the moment, we filmed the whole segment for you.

The video is now posted — it went up at 11:45 — and we’d love for you to go meet this sweet little fighter.

His mama did everything she could after he was born. She got him cleaned off, breathing, and gave him a chance… but sadly, we lost her shortly after birth.

Now Katy is bottle feeding him, watching him closely, and helping him get stronger one feeding at a time.

It’s a sweet, sad, hopeful little farm story — and yes, we still need name ideas for him. 🐮❤️

Thank you for being patient with us this morning. Sometimes farm life and technology both have their own plans.

Tomorrow morning, Katy is going live from the farm for a very special update. ❤️

Two days ago, we had a bull calf born here on the farm. His mama did everything she could — she got him cleaned off, breathing, and gave him a chance… but sadly, we lost her shortly after birth from what the vet believes was hemorrhaging.

Since then, this little calf has been fighting. Katy wrapped him up, we got him safe and warm, the vet treated him, and we were able to get colostrum in him during that first critical feeding.

Now he’s getting stronger every day and taking a full bottle of calf milk replacer twice a day.

Tomorrow morning, Katy will be live while she bottle feeds him and shares the story of what happened. It’s a sad story, but it’s also a hopeful one — our little miracle on the farm.

Come meet him live tomorrow morning. 🐮❤️

And we need your help picking out a name.
