Hi, I'm Phil, a late diagnosed Autistic Older Adult.
It's my goal to spread awareness about Autism as it relates to older people, particularly those who like me have been diagnosed much later in life.

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that the 'Autism Around the Globe' project webpage has featured a story about @Autistic-Older-Adult channel. Hopefully this is a chance to get the word out a bit wider about the fact that Autism doesn't just go away when we become adults and that there are millions of older adults around the world struggling without an understanding of their autism.

If you are interested, please feel free to check out the webpage.
www.autismaroundtheglobe.org/story/lets-talk-about…

As a part of all this it's my aim to spread the message about autism in older adults widely by providing the YouTube podcasts in as many languages as possible to make it accessible for autistic people in the developing world.

Thank you all for being a part of this awesome community.

Cheers.
Phil.

Hi All,

I just wanted to give a bit of feedback on last week's video "Autism is Political". To be honest there have been mixed responses with some comments claiming that I am being divisive and that I don't represent the Autistic community.
I just wanted to be clear that my thoughts are mine alone and not intended to represent anyone else but me. So, I do apologise if that was how the video came across. I had tried to make that clear in the video but maybe I could have done that better. But there were also many positive comments so thankyou also.

On a brighter note, I am working on next week's video on the topic of Autistic Routines and how I got that concept a bit wrong when going for my autism assessment. So that video is almost ready to record. Interestingly, my ADHD sent me down many side trails while trying to get my thoughts together for that topic, so I also wrote another 2 videos and started 3 others, so there are some interesting podcasts in the works coming soon.

Have a great week ahead. We are in for a scorcher here with more extreme heatwave conditions, including a 45C day on Tuesday. So, stay cool if you are in a warm place and stay warm if you are battling winter conditions and snow.

You are all Awesome!!
Cheers.

Hi All,

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy New Year and let you know what I have planned for my upcoming video podcasts.

I will be posting a video this Friday as a starting point, but I am thinking of dropping back to posting new content every 2 weeks moving through the first part of 2026 to try to make it more sustainable in my life.

This week I will be starting with the topic; 'Autism is Political' as a response to some of the big issues that have been happening in our world over the Christmas period.

So, I look forward to seeing you (not literally of course), this Friday.

Cheers.

Christmas is often framed as overwhelming for Autistic people — and for many of us, that’s true.

But in my latest video, I wanted to gently explore the other side of Christmas too — the parts that can bring rest, meaning, sensory joy, or connection, when we’re allowed to do it our own way.

🎄 What does Christmas look like for you as an Autistic or neurodivergent person?

No expectations. No pressure. Just lived experience.

Hi All,

Finally, I am excited to be back with some new video content.

Tomorrow (Thursday) I will be posting the first 3 videos of a 4-part series titled 'Are You Autistic'. In this series we will go back to basics and have a good look at What Autism actually is in Part 1. In Part 2 we will look at What Autism isn't and bust some myths and then in Part 3 we will go through 100 'quick fire' Autistic traits. Next week in the final part of the series we will look at what the journey might look like from that first spark of 'I wonder if I am Autistic' to a full-blown recognition and identification of personal Autism.

And thank you to all the people who have subscribed since I last posted.
Over the coming weeks I aim to delve into some more meaty topics.

Please join me in helping spread positive information about Autism to encourage each other on our Autistic journeys and help other as yet undiagnosed Autistic Adults 'find their way home'!

See you then.

Hi All,

No video again this week but I also wanted to let you know what is happening from here.

I am going to take about a month away from uploading videos but will be back strong later in November with lots of new content. The reasons for this break are varied but I am going to let the algorithm have a reset on my channel which means not posting for a month. During this time, I am going to focus on a few other things including some house repairs, a week away doing some sailing with Trish but more specifically planning and writing new content.

I want to make a fresh start with some well-planned out topics as a way of relaunching the channel. At the same time, I hope to do some promotion so as to reach more Autistic people and in more locations around the world. It's important to me that this content is able to help people in places that may not have as free and open access to information about Autism particularly in older adults.

During this period, I am available to chat via the email address autisticolderadult@gmail.com
and would love to hear from you whether it's about fresh ideas for topics going forward or to chat about any Autistic issues important to you or even just to say hi.

Thank you all for joining me on this journey of communicating about Autism and advocating for Autistic older adults in particular.

I am also aware that there have been many new subscribers over the last few weeks, and I thank you all for that support. I apologize that at the moment you have chosen to step aboard seems to be the moment I am stepping off, but I promise that I will be back stronger after this brief break.

If you want to keep watching in the meantime there are 40 videos about a wide variety of Autism related topics in my playlist. www.youtube.com/playlist?list... so feel free to binge on those until I return😊.

So, go well. Look after yourselves or drop me a line to say hi.
See you all in late November.

Hi all,

Just checking in to let you all know that there won't be a video this week. I have had a full on last month and the upshot of that is that I think I might be in burnout now. This is an interesting one for me as I don't really know how to assess burnout in myself. I know what Burnout is intellectually, but I don't know how to translate that to my own experience. Depending on how this state evolves it may end up being more than one missed video but I will keep you posted. I am looking forward to returning with new content as I have had some developments in my Neurodivergent journey which I am excited to share with you but that will have to wait for now.

Cheers.

Hi all,
I am again going to post this week's video on Friday instead of Thursday. My schedule seems to be shifted a day later in general now. So, thinking ahead to future releases, do you have any particular preference. What day do you prefer to watch my videos?

Hi all. This week's video is going to be posted a day later than usual as I have been away, and I am just catching up on a few things. And to that point the video is titled, "Travelling as an Autistic Adult | Flying, Sensory Challenges & Sunflower Lanyard Experience". I wrote it while sitting on the flight coming home while I mused about my experience of travel as an autistic person. So, see you tommorrow.
