I want to introduce you to Alistair, who is 45 pounds lighter than when he joined The Carb Dodging Challenge (my group coaching program) in January. ⬇️
"In winter 2022, our marketing team at work asked if they could get updated photos. I didn't like the classic jowly look I presented as a consultant of a certain age.
I was listening to a Health & Fitness Podcast about the effect of a ketogenic diet on certain mental conditions & I thought back to a YouTube channel that I used to follow.
I'd been interested in ketogenic diets, but it seemed so far away from my lifestyle of demerara sugar in my coffee and tea and lots of toast etc.!
Then I discovered the Carb Dodging Challenge – it was due to start soon, and it was only eight weeks, so it would fit in before a holiday I had booked.
The Challenge is coordinated online and has a mix of presentations, workshops and coaching sessions. I like the scientific basis of the material and the practicality that life isn't linear and "stuff" happens and dealt with things directly. Once I had the foundations, I just ran with it.
I found the community invaluable – an international group of people at various stages, all trying to work stuff out and get healthier!
The early weekly coaching sessions were handy for reassurance as it was all new. The latter ones for checking assumptions.
I found it a lot easier sticking to it than I thought – I wasn't bedridden due to fatigue, and my energy levels have been fine.
Health improvements have already started – part way through, I passed 10% weight loss, and as the weeks have passed, my waist-to-height ratio has improved.
I feel better in a number of ways, and I'm seriously planning to stick at it to improve my health further by getting my waist under half my height.
