Today would be my parents’ 66th anniversary. I was lucky to spend 51 anniversaries with them, almost made 52, missed by only 23 days. Debbie actually got 2 more years than I did, 53 anniversaries. We were very lucky that they started their love story so young, at 18 and 19, or who knows how much time we would’ve had. They loved to be surrounded by family and friends to celebrate their pride in their accomplishment against all odds. Cheers Mom and Dad! May your memories be a blessing.

Lainey Melnick & Associates - Dream Vacations is celebrating our 14 year business anniversary, August 27, 2025. Our sales have grown 5524% since our first months as a travel agency in 2011. I am filled with gratitude for my loyal clients, exceptional supplier partners, inspirational colleagues, unfaltering headquarters, devoted family and friends but especially for my steadfast team led by @travelagentalex, Jordan and Ken. I could not have survived the roller coaster turmoil and challenges of the travel industry without you all. So much has changed in those 14 years.

President @barackobama, my previous boss, was quoted in @theeconomist in August 2011 suggesting that travel agents were obsolete. At the time, I said that technology would make us innovate, not disappear and those of us who were tech savvy would benefit from the shift in our industry. History has proven me right. While I was a trailblazer using social media and online video platforms as my primary marketing channel, now over 70% of my colleagues have joined me online. Again naysayers are saying we are doomed with 42% of travelers experimenting with AI while the a few pioneering travel agents, like myself, are using the powerful tool to streamline business and improve customer service. Again, I predict that history will repeat itself and those of us mastering the new technology as innovators will rise to the top before others can catch up.

This business demands hard work, constant vigilance, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional service. It requires a listener who truly understands and delivers on client needs, and a leader who serves as a catalyst for visionary innovation. It’s extremely rewarding to know that I choose the right path for me 14 years ago and have something very special to pass on to my children.
