When high stress is the "common" rhythm of life for you, the mere idea of calm and relax can feel so unknown to the body, some people get to the extreme to develop something I called "natural resistance" to relaxation, which is characterized by a period of discomfort, temporarily, that prevents you from disengaging your fight flight and freeze stress brain respond, for protection purposes. In other words, calm is not safe, the brain becomes resistant to switch to gear 1. Keep and continue your efforts to become aware that is nothing broken here or that you can't do this. Allow your breathing do the job of calming and relaxing the body and this natural resistance will be smaller and smaller as you continue choosing this to do the work.
