Will O's Southwest Studio

Will O’s Southwest Studio, also known as Willorocks, is all about rockhounding adventures, lapidary, rock tumbling, and the relaxing art of turning rough stones into something beautiful. From desert finds and outdoor exploration to cutting, shaping, polishing, and transforming stone, I share the beauty of rocks in a casual, inspiring way with a Southwest feel. You’ll also find primitive pottery, history, and hands-on creative projects inspired by the land, materials, and cultures of the American Southwest. If you love nature, creativity, geology, and discovering what’s hidden inside a stone, you’re in the right place.

This Lortone 33B has been part of my rock tumbling journey for more than ten years, and it’s given me a lot of enjoyment along the way. It hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been dependable, repairable, and responsible for countless batches of polished stones.

My full 10-year review is out now.

Summer is officially here in Arizona, which means rockhounding season is pretty much on pause for a while! I’ll be staying indoors and working on new rock tumbling guides, tutorials, and more rock-related content this summer.

At least until monsoon storm-chasing season kicks in—I’m really looking forward to that this year!

Thanks for all the support, everyone! 🌵

10 Years of running, RIP Lortone Tumbler Motor. You served me well. :( This thing sure was a real trooper, over 6 repairs on it to keep it alive, it finally stands silent. New motor installed and working though! #lortone #rocktumbler

Bringing Sears-Kay Ruins to life one adobe wall at a time.

This is Unit 3 from the model I’m working on, and it’s been a joy combining two of my passions: 3D artwork and my fascination with ancient Southwestern culture. Rebuilding these spaces digitally helps me slow down, study the details, and better understand the people who once shaped these places.
