The South Australian Government has issued new nomination invitations for:
✔️ Subclass 190 Visa
▪️ 161 invitations issued on 21 May 2026
▪️ 1,767 total invitations issued in 2025–26
✔️ Subclass 491 Visa
▪️ 77 invitations issued on 21 May 2026
▪️ 1,086 total invitations issued in 2025–26
📌 This is the final scheduled invitation round for the current program year. Additional invitations may still be issued to utilise remaining nomination places.

ART Backlog Crisis in Australia.
The latest Australian Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) report reveals a serious migration backlog problem.
📅 Report Period: 1 July 2025 – 31 March 2026
📊 Key Numbers:
• 64,087 new applications lodged• Only 46,279 cases finalised• 130,447 cases still pending
This means ART is receiving far more cases than it can complete and delays are continuing to grow.
🔴 Migration Appeals Are the Biggest Pressure Area
✈️ Migration Cases:• 36,751 new cases lodged• Only 16,309 completed• 77,135 still pending
ART completed less than half of the migration matters received.
💔 Partner Visa Appeals
• 5,352 cases pending• Median processing time: 127 weeks• Only 20% finalised within 12 months
That’s almost 2.5 years of waiting for many families.
🎓 Student Visa Appeals
• 22,371 new cases• 51,582 pending• Median processing time: 68 weeks
This explains why student refusal appeals are now taking extremely long.
💼 Skilled & Work Visa Appeals
• 14,030 pending cases• Median processing time: 75 weeks
Around 1.5 years average waiting time.
⚠️ Protection Visa Cases
• 38,373 pending cases• Median processing time: 165 weeks
That is more than 3 years.
Some regions are even worse:• Malaysia – 195 weeks• South Asia – 168 weeks• China – 163 weeks
✅ Important Positive Point
ART changed the original decision in:
• 37% of migration cases• 53% of partner visa cases
This shows many refusals are later overturned after review.
📌 What This Report Really Proves
1️⃣ ART is heavily overloaded2️⃣ Migration appeal delays are increasing3️⃣ Student, skilled & partner visa reviews are facing major wait times4️⃣ Protection visa backlog is now severe5️⃣ A large number of refusals are later changed by ART
If someone lodges an ART appeal today, they should realistically expect a long waiting period.

📢 Migration Program Planning Update
Australia has confirmed the 2026–27 Permanent Migration Program at 185,000 places, with the same overall structure and skill to family split as the previous year.
The program continues to prioritise onshore applicants with 129,590 places, while 55,110 offshore places are allocated to skilled migrants to support Australia’s workforce needs.
Program Composition 2026–27:
Skill Stream: 132,240 places (71%)
Family Stream: 52,460 places (28%)
Special Eligibility: 300 places
Key Skilled Stream Changes:
Skilled Independent increased from 16,900 to 21,090
Employer Sponsored increased from 44,000 to 58,040
State and Territory Nominated increased from 33,000 to 35,500
Regional Nomination decreased from 33,000 to 14,010
Talent and Innovation decreased from 5,300 to 3,500
Family Stream Updates:
Child visas increased from 3,000 to 3,500
Parent visas decreased from 8,500 to 7,060
Other Family visas decreased from 500 to 400
This update reflects Australia’s continued focus on skilled migration, regional development, and addressing long term labour shortages.
