Hello my fishes,

This isn't easy for me to write, but I need to very honest with you out of respect for the immense support you have shown me throughout the years.

The truth is that I've hit a point of no return in terms of my Autistic burnout. I've tried to push through it and it's made it significantly worse. The reality is that I'm not doing well. I thought I was in a place to continue to move forward with my mermaid channel and I put out two videos but the love I once had for it just isn't there anymore. It may be that it's just buried under layers of exhaustion and in time will come back, but it might not. At this point I really don't know. What I do know is that I need to step away fully so that I can work to rebuild a more sustainable life outside of it for myself.

I'm deeply sorry to anyone who's disappointed by this news. Please know that this decision hasn't come lightly. I've been struggling with this for so long now and I finally need to just deal with it.

As most of you know, in 2022 I found out that I was Autistic and I chose to try creating some Autism-themed content for my channel with some success. However between that and my Shorts exploding to the wrong audience, things have become so muddled and the algorithm has become so confused that I don't feel like my Courtney Mermaid channel is salvageable at this point.

I've decided to try focusing on a new channel called Courtney, Literally. It's a place for my anecdotal chats about life (through my Autistic lens). I have also decided to work towards fulfilling a long-time dream of mine and create a Twitch channel. I reached Affiliate within 7 days and am now working slowly towards Partner. Working on these two projects has given me a sense of purpose and hope that I haven't had in a long time. The response I've received as been incredible and I feel like I'm really helping people.

I know for most of you who have been with me for a long time that this won't come as earth-shattering news but I know there will be some of you who feel differently about me and that's OK too.

If you made it to the bottom of this novel, know that I really appreciate you. Thank you for believing in me as I work to believe in myself once again. Life has thrown a few too many things my way over the last few years and all I really want is to adapt and get my life back on a more sustainable track so that this sort of thing doesn't happen to me again.

I appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness during this difficult time.

How is everyone's MerMay going so far?? If you missed it, I posted a new vlog and YES the vlogs and videos are coming back! I just wrapped up a week-long vlog that covers SO MUCH mermaid magic and right now I am in the process of a much dreaded phone backup. One folder at a time...

Yesterday I had the pleasure of swimming with a bunch of our local fishes at a Mermaids of BC pod meet up and it was such a lovely time! It was raining, but the water was PERFECT! I can't wait to share the footage!
