A concept design for a Hydrusite fleet carrier that I made because I was bored. There's probably already an official one and I wasted my time but it's still pretty neat; also here is a lore dump I made in my head in under 5 minutes that probably wouldn't make sense in Dead Ahead's lore whatsoever:
HCS Alpha Hydri was the lead ship of the Hydri-Class fleet carriers, which were ordered in an effort to bolster the Commonwealth's relatively lackluster navy and to rival the likes of other nations' fleet carriers such as the Antarean Taurus-Class. She would be launched and commissioned in 1948. Though 10 had been ordered, only 3 would actually sail.
Alpha Hydri had one of the most unique carrier designs seen on Forma, possessing a twin-island superstructure as opposed to one. The forward island would hold the bridge and be focused on navigation and ship control, whereas the aft would focus on flight control and operations -- though both could fulfill the other's role interchangeably in the event one was disabled. She also possessed a fully armored flight deck, making her considerably more resilient to enemy air attacks. She had an air group of 85 planes which -- while respectable -- slightly lingered behind her contemporaries. She was oil fired and could reach a top speed of 31 knots and possessed a defensive armament of 8, 140mm dual purpose twin mounts and an assortment of anti-aircraft guns.
- She derives inspiration from the proposed British Malta-Class carriers for her hull and the modern Queen Elizabeth-Class carriers for her iconic twin-island superstructure.
For those of you who saw my WW2 Dead Ahead Standoff, I'm doing the requested UK vs. Germany, however, I'm torn between two arrangements: the more traditional Dead Ahead style with the ships parallel, or the historically accurate arrangement.
