I help landowners turn their land into revenue-generating assets (think glamping and vacation rentals).

At Monument Glamping we sell a celebration setup as an add-on — birthday and anniversary staging waiting in the cabin when guests arrive. In this video I break down why it's one of the smartest little products on our menu: low cost to deliver, high perceived value, and it generates warm, shareable content as a byproduct.

The kicker: our cleaner, a local high schooler named Ariel, is so proud of these setups that she photographs them herself. That pride is producing marketing photos for free — a reminder that who you hire is part of your content strategy.

Honeycomb is one of the best examples of converting a simple shipping container into a premium hospitality asset.

In this walkthrough, Wendy tours the unit and shows how a thoughtfully designed container home can command premium nightly rates when paired with amenities like a sauna, hot tub, and private outdoor living space.

The structure itself is simple. The guest experience is what creates the value.

Our “Popcorn & Sweets” basket is a simple example of how small hospitality touches can create outsized value.

Fresh homemade popcorn and candy cost very little to produce, yet they increase guest satisfaction and generate additional revenue.

If you’re building a glamping site, vacation rental, or other hospitality business, remember this:

The structure gets the booking. The experience earns the review.

Follow along as I share practical lessons from building Monument Glamping and teaching landowners how to turn their property into revenue-producing assets.

This weekend, I helped my grandkids set up a lemonade stand.

But before we sold a single cup, we started with something far more important: the Profit & Loss statement.

We talked about:
🍋 Revenue
🛒 Cost of ingredients
💵 Labor expense
📈 Profit

Then we went shopping, built the stand, and put the lesson into practice.

By the end of the day:
• Over $100 in sales
• $40 paid to the kids for labor
• A real understanding of how business works

Whether you're running a lemonade stand, a side hustle, or a multimillion-dollar company, the principles are the same.

Business success begins when you understand your numbers.

Funny thing about Mother’s Day:

The host of Monument Glamping wanted to go camping.

So Wendy and I spent the night by the lake under a Davis tent, sat around the fire, and watched the moon rise.

The next morning, many of our kids and grandkids joined us for a big breakfast outdoors.

It reminded us why we love this business so much.

Glamping is about more than accommodations. It creates space for families to reconnect.

These are the kinds of memories we hope our guests make every time they stay with us.

I’ll be speaking for the American Glamping Association on April 22.

This is part of their Lunch & Learn series, and I’ll be sharing the full framework behind how we built Monument Glamping—from zoning and permits all the way to a working operation.

I joined AGA the day I discovered them, and I’ve stayed a member ever since. It’s one of the few organizations in this space that’s actually worth being part of.

If you’re interested in building something on your land, this is a good place to plug in.

We just opened two tents early at Monument Glamping.

Queen’s Retreat and Colorado Cowboy were supposed to stay closed until May 1…

But with weekends booking out and temps hitting 80° this weekend, it didn’t make sense to wait.

So we opened them.

There’s a short window of availability now—but I don’t expect it to last long.

One thing we’ve learned running Monument Glamping:

Privacy matters more than you think.

We recently added this fence after a few guests mentioned they didn’t feel fully private—especially using the ice plunge.

What’s interesting is… from our perspective, nothing felt intrusive.

But from the guest’s perspective, it did.

That’s the difference.

Hospitality isn’t about what you think works—it’s about how your guests experience it.

Wendy and I recently sat down with a local podcast called Sips & Stories and shared the full story of Monument Glamping.

From a backyard tent experiment… to building a hospitality experience on our land here in Monument.

We talk about the risks, the surprises, and the lessons along the way.

If you’ve ever wondered how this place came to be, this episode tells the whole story.

One thing we’ve learned running Monument Glamping:

Water changes the entire experience.

This porch at our King’s Quarters tent overlooks a small creek that runs through the property. It’s not dramatic, but guests consistently tell us it’s one of their favorite spots.

There’s something about the sound of moving water that makes people slow down.

Morning coffee lasts longer. Conversations linger. Even a simple chair with a view becomes a place you don’t want to leave.

Sometimes the best amenities are already on the land.
